PART#308GTiBR09/17 www.peugeot.com.au To meet the strict requirements of sports enthusiasts, PEUGEOT Sport’s engineers – who speak the same language and have the same passion for performance – were tasked with developing a GTi version of the 308 , making the GTi by PEUGEOT Sport a true hot hatch.

The 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport is a radically designed, high performance car, a hot hatch powered by a 1.6 litre THP Stop & Start (S&S) engine developing 200 kilowatts (270 horsepower) and featuring a Torsen® limited-slip differential*, sports buckets seats, PEUGEOT i-Cockpit and Coupe Franche two-tone paintwork.

Overseas model shown. *Available only on the 270hp version. 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport is distinguished by its pure, sporty styling and radical stance that makes it 11mm lower than a conventional 308 courtesy of lowered suspension, 19” “Carbone”* alloy wheels and low-profile Pilot Super Sport tyres.

It features all the attributes you would expect to find on a true with such tasty morsels as dual exhaust pipes, 380mm-diameter** front brake discs with red ‘PEUGEOT Sport’ four-piston calipers, a chequered radiator grille pattern, ‘GTi’ logos on the front quarter panels and tailgate, prominent under-bumper air intakes for the turbocharger intercooler and aerodynamic deflectors beneath the bumpers.

Sports car enthusiasts and GTi purists alike will be delighted.

*Available as an option on the 250hp version, a standard on the 270hp version. Overseas model shown. **Available only on 270hp version. The cockpit is unashamedly sporty with an anthracite grey look all the way to the headlining. Red top-stitching adorns the upholstery, door panels, gear lever bellows and high-end floor mats. The interior of 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Design breathes passion with a soft, full-grain leather steering wheel complete with ‘GTi’ logo and red centre marker on the rim. The door sills feature both the ‘PEUGEOT SPORT’ AND ‘GTi’ logos and the pedals, footrest and gear lever knob are all finished in aluminium.

‘PEUGEOT SPORT’ branding appears on the TEP and Alcantara-upholstered sports-style bucket seats* which have been designed to give outstanding lateral support in every driving situation, ensuring the driver is at one with the car at all times. Overseas model shown.

*Optional on GTi 250. The compact, flat-bottomed steering wheel measures 351mm x 329mm and gives drivers a natural grip with flawless precision. It allows a clear view of the head-up instrument panel – the dials even featuring chequered flag backdrops and ‘GTi’ greeting message in the central colour MID.

The large (9.7-inch) central touchscreen integrates perfectly with the soft-feel dashboard, its Redline theme adding a final touch of flair to the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit. The natural, ergonomic cockpit design promotes safe, instinctive driving, which is crucial for a car packing so much punch.

Finally, the Driver Sport Pack offers drivers the chance to boost their car’s sporty nature. Pressing the ‘SPORT’ button on the centre console switches the display colour from white to red and shows additional engine data – power, torque, turbo boost and lateral and longitudinal acceleration – on the central display. It also amplifies the engine sound via the audio system and changes the electronic throttle mapping, resetting the performance parameters.

Overseas model shown. To maximise the chassis’ full potential the PEUGEOT 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport packs a turbocharged punch. Its 1.6 litre THP S&S (Stop & Start) petrol engine features state-of-the-art engineering with forged aluminium pistons, strengthened connecting rods, polymer-enhanced bearings and reinforced bolts. The pistons are cooled by a double oil spray system to ensure consistent performance and the steel exhaust manifold can handle operating temperatures as high as 1,000ºC.

Showcasing the wealth of expertise within PEUGEOT Sport’s engineering group, the engine’s 200 kilowatts of power and 330 Newton metres of torque are perfectly managed, even at higher engine speeds, by its special ‘wastegate’ valve design.

PEUGEOT SPORT was driven by a simple design brief in its 308 GTi development and that was to create a compact, safe, incisive car with athletic allure for the ultimate in driving pleasure. This approach has been applied to every aspect of the car, from the engine and running gear to the braking and electronics systems.

The entire front suspension system has been specifically designed with unique spring and shock absorber calibrations. The front anti-roll bar has been made more compliant, ensuring a better match with the rear axle. The 308 GTi by PEUGEOT SPORT has been engineered to offer exceptional grip with a wide track (1,570mm at the front and 1554mm at the rear) and specially-designed 235/35R19 Michelin Super Sport tyres which push the boundaries of grip to the very limit.

Steering response is critical when cornering and the tyres on PEUGEOT 308 GTi can be used to their full potential thanks to chassis development by the PEUGEOT SPORT team. Camber has been changed from -0.6o on the 308 to -1.67o for 308 GTi and rear wishbone stiffness has also been increased. An accomplished Torsen limited-slip differential is fitted toPEUGEOT 308 GTi. Incorporated into the gearbox, it improves cornering traction by channelling torque to the wheel with the most grip, allowing the car to accelerate more quickly on corner exit than would normally be the case.

TORSEN® LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL

The onboard electronics are in keeping with the GTi’s athletic temperament with the designed to work specifically with the Torsen technology.

The Torsen limited-slip differential draws on new Traction Control guidelines for optimum implementation. The sportier Electronic Stability Program (ESP) design allows more latitude, with enhanced drift on bends. ESP can be fully disconnected. SPORTS CAR

The wide front bumper reflects 308 GTi’s level of performance. The nose features full LED flanking the black radiator grille which has a horizontal chequer pattern – typical of a GTi – and gloss-black finish and the same motif is echoed on the lower air intake.

The bumper is finished-off with deflectors on each side, reinforcing the sense that this is a car with exceptional roadholding and aerodynamic performance, underscored by its impressive 0.31 drag co-efficient (CD).

Inside, everything has been made to give the car a feeling of outstanding quality with refined, high-quality materials – the soft-feel dashboard and soft, full-grain leather steering wheel, for example – adding to the pleasure of this uncompromising sports car.

PEUGEOT uses its engineering expertise to reduce fuel consumption and pollution emissions for each of its vehicles and its commitment to the environment can be seen on the 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport.

In terms of weight, aerodynamics, tyre choice and PEUGEOT Sport technological expertise, everything has been done to reduce the environmental impact and move forward in terms of eco-design.

This version of the 308 takes every advantage of efforts to reduce the car’s weight and that includes use of PEUGEOT’s EMP2 platform, composite materials and high-strength steels for the tailgate.

Weighing just 1,205 kilograms, PEUGEOT 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport boasts

genuinely impressive ecological performance. It emits just 139g/km of CO2 on the combined cycle. Combined cycle fuel consumption is 6.0 l/100km, a best-in-class performance. The car achieves 8.1 l/100km on the urban cycle and 4.9 l/100km on the urban cycle ((based on 95 RON fuel and in accordance with ADR 81/02). TRIMS COLOURS
