The Bowring and Lady Curzon Medical College and Research Institute has been named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. = Bengaluru “Majerhat bridge” has been renamed as "Jai Hind" bridge to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Subash Chandra Bose. = Kolkata West Bengal State Government has approved the construction of a deep sea port in Tajpur. In Nainital, Uttarakhand, first eco-bridge for smaller mammals has been built. Union Cabinet has given its approval for Provision of Submarine Optical Fibre Cable Connectivity between Mainland (Kochi) and Lakshadweep Islands (KLI Project). G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the National Centre for Divyang Empowerment (NCDE) at the CRPF Group Centre in Hakimpet, Medchal, Telangana. The main objective of the partnership is to co-create innovative technological solutions. The SoI was signed by NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and Ambassador of the Netherlands to India Marten van den Berg. India extends $1 bn credit line to Central Asian countries The second meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue was held virtually, under the chairmanship of the External Affairs Minister of India Dr S Jaishankar. The foreign minister of all the five Central Asian countries- Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan– participated in the meeting. During the meeting, India announced US $1 billion line of credit for “priority developmental projects” in Central Asian countries in the fields of connectivity, energy, IT, healthcare, education, agriculture and offered to provide grant assistance for implementation of High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) for furthering socio-economic development in the countries of the region. Apart from this, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan also attended the meeting as a special invitee. The first India-Central Asia Dialogue was held in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand in 2019.

While as of 2020, cases have increased to 1,550 filed in 38 countries and the European Union courts. • COVID-19 “performance index” was released by the Australian think- tank, Lowy Institute. • In the index India ranked 86 out of 98 countries, while the United States placed 94 and Brazil at the bottom of the index. • Sri Lanka was the best faring nation in South Asia, ranking 10, while the Maldives was at 25, Pakistan at 69, Nepal at 70, and Bangladesh at 84. • The think-tank said China was not included “due to a lack of publicly available data on testing”. • New Zealand and Vietnam led the list, followed by Taiwan, Thailand and Cyprus in the top five.

Petroleum Minister unveils India’s first long distance CNG bus: Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled India's first long-distance Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bus fitted with CNG cylinders at a function in New Delhi. It can travel around one thousand kilometers in a single fill. The first long-range interstate CNG bus will play from Delhi to Dehradun. Mahindra & Mahindra along with Agility Fuel Solutions of USA have partnered with IGL for introducing the new concept of lightweight Type IV composite cylinders in buses. Note: The project has been executed by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and has been achieved through the design of Type IV Composite Cylinders in buses, replacing traditional very heavy Type-I Carbon Steel cylinders. 2. Rohtang tunnel in Himachal Pradesh named as Atal tunnel: Prime Minister Narendra Modi named Rohtang passageway in Himachal Pradesh as Atal Tunnel to mark the 95th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The tunnel has been named as a tribute to the former Prime Minister who took the historic decision of constructing this strategic tunnel. The strategic Atal tunnel will change the fortunes of this region and will help in promoting tourism in the region. The 8.8-kilometre-long tunnel is the world's longest tunnel above an altitude of 3,000 metres. After completion of the tunnel, it will provide all-weather connectivity to remote areas of Lahaul and Spiti Valley and reduce the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 Kilometres. It is a 10.5-metre wide single tube bi-lane tunnel with a fire-proof emergency tunnel built into the main tunnel itself.

This year’s Expo will focus on displaying the most cutting-edge science and technology in the global health industry, and help Wuhan build “city of global health industry”. During the Expo, more than a hundred high-end forums including a summit forum, academician forum and the roundtable dialogue on epidemic prevention and normalized control, and the Global University Leaders Forum, will be organized. Naveen Patnaik launched a mobile app “Secha Samadhan” Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched ‘Secha Samadhan’, a bilingual mobile application. It will address the irrigation problems faced by farmers without them having to visit the offices concerned. With the launching of the application, farmers need not run to the offices of the Water Resources department and can send their grievances through photographs or videos. The farmers will be informed about the status of their complaints through SMS. The Bank plans to reach out to more than 20 million small and medium merchants and professional services like doctors, pharmacies, salons and laundry services across the metro, semi-urban and rural India in the next three years.
