The works by the Righteous Among the Nations, hieromonk Danyyil (Dmytro Tymchyna, 1900-1972) who kept hiding Jewish children during the German occupation upon the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky’s commission in the orphanage at the Univ Holy Dormition Lavra are presented for the first time. The documents provided in the book are kept in the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in the city of Lviv, in the archive of the Univ Holy Dormition Lavra of the Studite Rule, in the archive of the Postulation Centre of the Monasteries of the Studite Rule, in Lviv V. Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine. They reflect the world outlook and the inner world of the individual who risked his own life and the life of his co- monks in the monastery to save Jewish children during the years of the Holocaust.
