1 Primary Ring-necked Pheasant Literature National Wild Pheasant Conservation Plan and Partnerships Last Updated: January 16, 2018 This document contains citations and abstracts of books, symposia, technical bulletins, national plans, and scientific articles concerning various aspects of pheasant ecology and management, primarily drawn from North American outlets. Citations are provided in descending chronological order for selected subject areas, with some being listed under multiple categories. Abstracts are those written by the author unless none was provided; papers without abstracts were subjectively summarized based on their contents, or the author’ own summary and/or conclusions were used if available. Given the large volume of historic pheasant literature available, this is a work in progress and there are no guarantees of its comprehensiveness at any point in time. A particular effort was made to include pheasant-specific literature published in the Journal of Wildlife Management and Wildlife Society Bulletin, but papers in which pheasants were but one of many species studied are often not included regardless of the outlet. Literature published prior to the beginning of the Journal of Wildlife Management in 1937 is also not well covered. The document will be periodically updated as additional citations become available.
