The £57million building, the first purpose- built musical academy to be constructed in the UK since 1987, is the only conservatoire in the country to be specifically designed to cater for the demands of the digital age. The state-of-the-art building features five public performance spaces. These include a new 500-seat concert hall for orchestral per- formance and the city’s only permanent jazz space - Eastside Jazz Club. There will also be private rehearsal rooms and dedicated teaching spaces for musicians, with more than 70 teaching practice rooms.
