OLGA SANCHEZ: Director, Artistic Director • Think fun, this is an opportunity to perform for an audience! • Be friendly as you introduce yourself in the beginning, and say thank you at end -- you're showing the auditors a little bit of who you are (not the characters in your monologues) -- and we want to know that the person we'll be working with is pleasant! • Please don't look at the auditors in the eye during your monologues. • If you're presenting two monologues think about the two different characters you are creating, how they stand, walk, talk -- show us you know how to create characters different from yourself and distinct in themselves. • Think about intention -- What does your character want? Does it achieve its intention by the end of the monologue? Your monologue is a mini-play, consider the beginning, middle and end. • Think about who you're talking to: A stranger? A close friend? Artista estraneo ad ogni forma di divismo, di vastissima cultura che, come ben sanno tutti coloro che hanno avuto la fortuna di conoscerlo, concepiva la musica come una missione. La nobiltà del suo pensiero ha costantemente illuminato ogni espressione del suo percorso di concertista, didatta e musicologo. Interprete applaudito nei maggiori centri d’Europa e del Sud America, Emilio Pujol si impose all’attenzione della critica per l’assoluta padronanza tecnica e l’elegante raffinatezza del fraseggio. Determinante e di fondamentale importanza per la conoscenza della musica spagnola, è il suo apporto musicologico sulla vihuela e i vihuelisti del Siglo de Oro . Le sue numerose trascrizioni in notazione moderna (Seis Libros de Delfin , Valladolid 1538, di Luys de Narvaez; Tres Libros en cifra para vihuela , Sevilla 1546, di Alonso Mudarra; Selva de Sirenas , Valladolid 1547, di Enriquez de Valderrabano) pubblicate per la collana Monumenti della Musica Spagnola , sono una tangibile e preziosa testimonianza. Nella sua poliedrica attività di musicista, trova largo spazio l’insegnamento verso cui si sente istintivamente attratto. Nel 1940 è docente di vihuela presso il Conservatorio di Barcelona, nel 1946 docente di chitarra al Conservatorio di Lisbona e, nello stesso anno, all’École Normale de Musique di Parigi, chiamato dal suo fondatore Alfred Cortot. -
