Convalidation Informative Seminar Tuesday, October 12th at 7 pm at the St. Mary of the Lakes Church Emmaus Center

Are you a Catholic who was married by a justice of the peace or a minister of another denomination? As a married couple, you have already made a commitment to one another. Perhaps you’d like to consider taking your marriage to the next level by inviting Jesus to dwell within your relationship. If you feel ready to begin the process of preparing for marriage in the Church, or if you’d simply like to understand the process , please call the St. Mary of the Lakes parish office at 609-654-8208 to register for this informative seminar. Father Dan will be presenting and we will have a question and answer session covering convalidation (what is it) and receiving annulments. You’ll be so glad you did!

St. Vincent de Paul Society

As we embark on the 18th year of our ministry we are extremely grateful to all of you who continue to help us to assist needy families in our community. Since the onset of the pandemic we have all faced even greater challenges. Although we are currently unable to see people in their homes we have been conducting visits over the phone. We assist with rent, utility bills, insurance, food, clothing and other necessities. The support of Father Pfleger and the generous donations of the parish families of St. John Neumann and St. Isaac Jogues have allowed us to ease the burdens of our brothers and sisters who request our help. Thank you for your kindness and compassion.

We celebrate the feast of St. Vincent de Paul on September 27th and endeavor to live by his words: “We should strive to keep our hearts open to the sufferings and wretchedness of other people, and pray continually that God may grant us that spirit of compassion which is truly the spirit of God.”

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION PROGRAM OUR BABIES ARE SIX MONTHS OLD! By The St. John Neumann Pro-Life Ministry

Our babies are growing beautifully! They can now respond to sound. They may be soothed by their mother’s voices or startled by loud noises. Their lungs are fairly well developed and they stand a good chance of survival if born at this time. Sadly, not all babies are given the chance to be born. That is why we are encouraging you to keep up your prayers each day for your baby. If you have not yet “adopted” a baby, prayer cards are on the table in the foyer. Please join us…your “baby” is awaiting your prayers.

A Message from Sister Mary Kay “I don't know what it's like to be you; you don't know what it's like to be me. What if we're all the same in different kinds of ways?” “Relate” King and Country

In case you may not have noticed I like to listen to music and my tastes are varied. The above lyrics are from a new song “Relate”. In today’s world, with so much going on it can make your head spin it is worth a listen. Today’s Gospel reminds us that just because someone may look different, or not be a member of our faith, they can still believe in and share the Good News of God’s love. Each of us is created in the image and likeness of God and we all have the commandment to do good. Pope Francis reminds us”…it is our duty to build bridges and to help all men and women, in any way possible, to do the same.” Pope Francis’s speech to Congress Let us pray for one another in the week ahead that when we encounter diversity we will have the grace to look for the beauty and the goodness in people and situations rather than giving in to fear and suspicion. Peace!

We continue to pray for our Faith Formation families this week. Names that are in bold are those families celebrating a sacrament this year.
