Sound familiar? As our society plunges into godlessness, the atheists are get - ting bolder. Even Christians who study creation science are often confronted with new discoveries and so-called ‘evidence’ against the Bible that they haven’t heard of before. In this talk, former atheist Spike Psarris* gives an unusual perspective on creation science—one that bypasses arguments over evidence and discoveries, and goes straight to the heart of the matter. You’ll learn to expose the fatal flaws of atheism, of which most atheists themselves are unaware. For example: if the Bible were false and atheism were true, then science itself would be impossible. (This was admitted by the forerunner of the modern atheist movement himself, and in this talk, you’ll see why this is true.) This storm will likely go down in the record books as one of the largest coastal snowstorms in the month of March ever recorded at some locations. Records date back to the late 1800’s along the Oregon coast, and the last coastal snowstorm of this size in the month of March was in 1951 when between 4 and 8 inches of snow fell. What is even more rare about this storm is the fact that within 12 hours, bewildered coastal residents went from 50 degrees with hurricane force wind gusts to 32 degrees and 6 inches of snow. All of this taking place just a week before the start of spring. Then on March 21-22 this year, another unusual late-season storm brought heavy snow to much of Orego n— and all-time record for March. Our guest speaker for this April meeting is popular climatologist George Taylo r*, who discusses these recent weather (short term) events and climate (long term) in the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere. Active in meteorology and climatology since 1971, he is a Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM), and has written two books: The Oregon Weather Book and The Climate of Oregon . In addition to being a member of the American Meteorological Association, he is a former member of the Board of Certified Consulting Meteorologists, and two-time President of the American Association of State Climatologists. Taylor received a B.A. degree in Mathematics from the University of California and an M.S. in Meteorology from the University of Utah. And while much has been made of his contribution to the evolutionary hypothesis, little has been publicized about the dark side of the man himself and how this impacted the quality and legitimacy of his research. We were honored in May to host visiting lecturer, author and professor Dr. Jerry Bergman*, who spoke on this subject. Topics covered include the charge of plagiarism leveled against Darwin, his negative attitude toward blacks and women, his support of the racist eugenics belief, and his main goal for developing his theory, which was, in his words, “to murder God”. It has also been used by the RATE team to explore mechanisms for accelerated radioactive decay. In the world of Quantum Mechanics, mathematical descriptions have no physical counterpart, uncertainty is inher - ent, matter has a dual nature, and the basic laws of electrody - namics do not apply to the inner workings of the atom. In addi - tion, the fundamental assumption of Quantum Mechanics is that the electrons, protons, and neutrons of which atoms are com - posed are point-like, and can be treated as if they have no physical dimensions, however, this is known to be false. In this talk, Phil Gaskill* presents a new model of the atom which replaces the assumption of point-like particles with a description of real atomic structure using particles with physical shape and size. The model is able to explain all of the data which Quantum Mechanics was invented to describe and has also made successful predictions in areas where Quantum Mechanics has not. Most importantly, the new model of the atom appears to be able to explain large amounts of radioactive decay products on a young Earth and does not have the heat problem of RATE’s accelerated decay hypothesis. *Phil Gaskill is Science Writer and analyst for Cramer Fish Sciences in Gresham, Oregon. He previously held engineering and management positions in the information technology industry. After beginning as a Physics major, Phil pursued his interest in the history of science by switching his major to History. He has been a student of the history, philosophy, and methodology of science for more than twenty years. Phil first presented on developments in modern physics at the 1990 Second International Conference on Creationism in Pittsburgh, and he speaks periodically on the subject of origins at his home church. It is perhaps the one biblical account that appears to conflict with modern science more than any other. Many aspiring Christian apologists have chosen to use this account as a litmus test of whether one accepts the Bible or modern science as true. Before we examine this together, let me clarify that I accept the account of Noah’s Flood as completely true, just as I do the entirety of the Bible. The Bible demonstrates itself to be reliable and remarkably consistent, having numerous interesting participants in various stories through which is interwoven a continuous theme of God’s plan for man’s redemption. Noah’s Flood is one of those stories, revealing to us both God’s judgment of sin and God’s over-riding grace and mercy. It remains a timeless account, for it has much to teach us about a God who never changes. It is one of the most popular Bible stories for children, and the truth be known, for us adults as well. It is rather unfortunate that many dismiss the account as mythical, simply because it seems to be at odds with a scientific view of the earth.

È impor- tante capire che questa è una contrapposizione fuorviante. I crea- zionisti spesso fanno ricorso ai fatti della scienza per sostenere il proprio punto di vista, e gli evoluzionisti spesso fanno ricorso ad assunzioni filosofiche fuori dalla scienza. Mentre i creazionisti sono spesso criticati perché partono da un preconcetto, anche gli evolu- zionisti partono da un preconcetto come molti di essi ammettono.
