In fact, they are ofen given the idea that no true scientist today is a creationist. Richard Dawkins, a brash atheist and anti-creationist, says: “Evolution is a fact. Beyond reasonable doubt, beyond serious doubt, beyond sane, informed, intelligent doubt, beyond doubt evolution is a fact. ... Evolution is a fact, and [my] book will demonstrate it. No reputable scientist disputes it, and no unbiased reader will close the book doubting it” (Dawkins, Te Greatest Show in Earth). “Tere is no doubt now; no serious scientist has any doubt that evolution is a fact, in the sense that we are cousins of chimpanzees, monkeys and wombats and cassowaries” (Dawkins, interview with COSMOS magazine, May 23, 2012). According to Dawkins, no reputable scientist disputes evolution, and if you do reject evolution, you are biased, unintelligent, and your sanity should be questioned. Consider some other examples of this view: “... no scientist denies the central truth of [Darwin’s] Te Origin, the idea of descent with modifcation ... plants, animals and everything else descended from a common ancestor” (Steve Jones, Professor of Genetics, University College of London, Darwin’s Ghost, 2000, pp. xvii, xxiii). “... no educated person any longer questions the validity of the so-called theory of evolution, which we now know to be a simple fact” (Ernst Mayr, professor of zoology, Harvard University, “Darwin’s Infuence on Modern Tought,” Te Best American Science Writing 2001, edited by Timothy Ferris, p. 141). 1 “Evolution is a fact and no educated scientist doubts it” (Gary Huxley, biologist, Brandt University, quoted by Paul McDorman, “Noted Evolutionist Says He Won’t Debate Creationists,” World by Design, 2011, p. 1). “In fact, all scientists accept the reality of evolution” (Joseph McInerney, director of Biological Sciences Curriculum Study, quoted by David Hill, “Counter Evolutionary,” Education Week, Nov. 20, 1996, p. 7). Bill Nye “the Science Guy” claims that the teaching of creation damages children and could harm the future of the U.S. economy by hindering critical thinking and stifing innovation (“Bill Nye: Debate over Evolution in Texas Schools Is Jeopardizing Our Future,” Huffington Post, Nov. 23, 2013). In fact, modern science was invented by men who believed in divine creation, so Bill Nye would need to show how that creationism hindered these men’s

  • The Shameful Wrong That Must Be Righted
This Year’s Nobel Prize in Medicine The Shameful Wrong That Must Be Righted This year the committee that awards The Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine did the one thing it has no right to do: it ignored the truth. Eminent scientists, leading medical textbooks and the historical facts are in disagreement with the decision of the committee. So is the U. S. Patent Office. Even Alfred Nobel’s will is in disagreement. The com- mittee is attempting to rewrite history. The Nobel Prize Committee to Physiology or Medicine chose to award the prize, not to the medical doctor/research scientist who made the breakthrough discovery on which all MRI technology is based, but to two scientists who later made technological improvements based on his discovery. WHAT EMINENT SCIENTISTS AND AUTHORS SAY “I was stunned to learn that the Nobel Committee has apparently become so political that it is willing to overlook documented evidence (1971) for the first discovery of the substantial T1 and T2 tissue differences discovered by Damadian, which have become the foundation of all NMR imaging.”— John Throck Watson, Ph. D., Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan "We are perplexed, disappointed and angry about the incomprehensible exclusion of Professor Raymond Damadian, M.D., from this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. MRI's entire development rests on the shoulders of Damadian's discovery of NMR proton relaxation differences among normal and diseased tissues and his proposal of external scanning of NMR relaxation differences in the human body, published in Science in 1971” -— Eugene Feigelson, Senior Vice President for Biomedical Education and Research, Dean of the College of Medicine, Distinguished Service Professor, SUNY Downstate Medical Center "Egg on the Nobel for Medicine's face."— V.

BOOK REVIEW Nasty priority disputes The problem is that the scientific reward system often does not get it right. Meyers recounts many other stories in brief to illustrate the Prize Fight: The Race and the weaknesses of peer review, the inadequacies of processes by which Rivalry to be the First in Science prize winners are selected and the inaccuracies of merit systems that link scientific work to tenure, promotion, grants and prestige. In fact, Morton A. Meyers Meyers’s tales suggest that the reward system itself may be largely at Palgrave Macmillan, 2012 fault. The scientists portrayed here showed no signs early in their 262 pp., hardcover, $27.00 careers of being motivated by glory, fame and wealth. He is widely published in literature dealing with ornithology, behavioral ecology, and paleontology, and has contributed numerous articles to Adventist publications. His book, The Creation-Evolution Controversy: An Annotated Bibliography (Scarecrow Press, 1998), won a Choice award from the American Library Association. He also edited Creation Reconsidered (Association of Adventist Forums, 2000). Harold Willard Clark was an Adventist biologist who taught for many years at Pacific Union College. He became well known among Seventh-day Adventists through his writings that defended young-earth creationism and Flood geology. Early Life and Education Harold Willard Clark Harold W. Clark was born near Sherbrooke, Quebec, Photo from Wikimedia Commons. Canada, on November 6, 1891, the eldest of four siblings. Until Harold was six his parents, Homer and Sarah (nee Gladden) Clark, managed a farm near Sherbrooke. Eventually the family moved to a second farm near South Corinth, Vermont, where Harold spent most of his childhood and adolescence. There he learned to tend livestock, plant and harvest corn and potatoes, put up hay, care for a family garden, and make maple syrup. He also developed a love for nature, in part by reading through a botany textbook by Harvard professor Asa Gray. During the spring and summer of his sixteenth year he enjoyed learning the names of local wild plants, a passion that would occupy the rest of his life.1 Career in Education At sixteen Harold passed Vermont’s teachers’ examinations, and was certified to teach elementary school, which he did for the next year and a half.

  • Apologetic Resources
APOLOGETIC RESOURCES A Young Earth ministry perspective, namely contrasting Scripture to true science now and during the ages. By Dr. Jim Pagels [email protected] 9/2016 Editor Dr. John Fricke, Emeritus Professor of Biology, Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Copyright This book is offered as an educational resource on a no cost basis. Contents are not to be reproduced for the purpose of sale. Note that all Scriptural passages are taken from the English Standard Version. 1 I HAVE NO GREATER JOY THAN TO HEAR THAT MY CHILDREN WALK IN THE TRUTH III JOHN 1:4 Forward - Although there is much young Earth information available from commercial sources and on the internet, it was the impression of this writer that no resource that deals with basic topical issues correlating the young Earth philosophy and science exists for professional church workers. To this end, Apologetic Resources is being offered. Intended Audience – The intended audience of this reference material is primarily use by professional church workers, i.e., teachers, pastors, youth workers, etc., namely those who choose to uphold the literal interpretation of Genesis and the inerrancy of Holy Scripture. The focus in this regard is Young Earth Creationism and the catastrophic nature of the global Genesis Flood keeping in mind that Genesis 1-11 is foundational to most of the significant doctrines of Holy Scripture. Of course, laymen may well also find this reference a valuable resource. There is obviously a realistic interplay between Scripture, apologetics and true science. The goal of this document is to provide clarity to this interaction.

  • Mapping the Creation-Evolution Debate in Public Life
MAPPING THE CREATION-EVOLUTION DEBATE IN PUBLIC LIFE by ANDREW JUDSON HART (Under the Direction of Edward Panetta) ABSTRACT Evolution versus creation is a divisive issue as religion is pitted against science in public discourse. Despite mounting scientific evidence in favor of evolution and legal decisions against the teaching of creationism in public schools, the number of advocates who still argue for creationist teaching in the science curriculum of public schools remains quite large. Public debates have played a key role in the creationist movement, and this study examines public debates between creationists and evolutionists over thirty years to track trends and analyze differences in arguments and political style in an attempt to better understand why creationism remains salient with many in the American public. • Darwin Skeptics a Select List of Science Academics, Scientists, and Scholars Who Are Skeptical of Darwinism Compiled by Jerry Bergman Phd
Darwin Skeptics A Select List of Science Academics, Scientists, and Scholars Who are Skeptical of Darwinism Compiled by Jerry Bergman PhD. http://www.rae.org/pdf/darwinskeptics.pdf , 24-8-2014 It is commonly claimed that no scientist rejects macroevolution or Darwinism (by which is meant evolutionary naturalism, or the view that variation caused by mutations plus natural selection accounts for all life forms). For example, Dr. Steve Jones, Professor of Genetics at University College of London, wrote that “no scientist denies the central truth of The Origin, the idea of descent with modification... plants, animals and everything else descended from a common ancestor” (Jones, 2000, pp. xvii, xxiii). Other writers avoid the words “all” or “no scientist” and claim instead that “almost no scientist” rejects Darwinism as defined above. In an article refuting “wiccan creationism,” the author claimed that evolutionary theory has been confirmed to such a high degree and has such great explanatory power that it is the central organizing principle of the biological sciences today. Modern biology is basically unthinkable outside of the context of evolution and that is why it is accepted without reservations by pretty much every working scientists [sic] in the life sciences. It also isn’t really questioned in the other natural sciences, either, like physics or chemistry. The author then makes the following absolutist statement: Evolution is taken as a fact—and while there might be disagreements about some of the details of how evolution proceeds, there are no disagreements about the idea that it does occur and that it is the explanation for the diversity of life on our planet.
