Quan la creació d’un reportatge periodístic implica un viatge de més de 1.500 quilòmetres (Manchester), es converteix ràpidament en una aventura personal, i perquè aquesta sigui fructífera, com ho ha acabat estant, és necessària l’ajuda de molts actors. Primer de tot, m’agradaria agrair la figura del meu tutor de TFG, en Josep Maria Puig, que a més de guiar-me durant tot aquest procés, va ser el primer que em va fer veure que, per portar a terme el projecte que tenia en ment, havia de viure-ho en primera persona i viatjar fins a Manchester per poder realitzar el treball de camp. A l’inici, aquesta premissa em va fer dubtar sobre la continuïtat de la meva idea, però finalment ho vaig acabar veient com una gran oportunitat. Just a la fusta. Tampoc puc oblidar-me del suport que m’han donat durant tot el projecte els meus pares i familiars més propers, que en tot moment em van animar a fer el pas de realitzar el viatge fins a Manchester i que, fins i tot, em van ajudar econòmicament perquè el pogués fer realitat. M’han donat un cop de mà, a més, en els moments més crítics del treball i s’han preocupat en tot moment del seu desenvolupament. Un capítol a part es mereixen totes aquelles persones i institucions que han col·laborat i que han acceptat esdevenir els protagonistes d’aquesta aventura. A Catalunya, la Penya Catalana de l’FC United of Manchester (Catalan Branch) ha estat un pilar fonamental per poder tirar endavant tot el treball de camp. D’altra banda, a Manchester, el mateix FC United, tots els periodistes, cofundadors del club, socis i aficionats, entrenadors i jugadors que s’han deixat entrevistar, s’han convertit en els grans al·licients d’aquest projecte. Sense ells no hi hauria TFG. Per tant, la meva gratificació per a tots ells és especialment sentida. Per últim, m’agradaria destacar les figures dels periodistes catalans, Miquel Agut i Guillem Estadella, dos professionals que han esdevingut peces clau en la construcció del reportatge radiofònic que es presenta en aquest projecte de fi de grau. Introducció x 1.1 Presentació “Football Club United of Manchester: un gol al futbol modern” és un projecte elaborat amb l’objectiu de mostrar tots els passos seguits per arribar a realitzar un reportatge radiofònic sobre l’FC United of Manchester (FC o FCUM), un club de futbol de la ciutat de Manchester, Anglaterra, que va ser fundat el 2005 per socis i aficionats del Manchester United disconformes amb la compra del club per part de l’empresari nord- americà, Malcom Irving Glazer, el maig del 2005. El resultat de tota aquesta guia, que s’exposa durant el transcurs d’aquestes pàgines, és la creació d’un document sonor que des del primer moment ha tingut un objectiu molt clar: donar veu als veritables protagonistes de l’efemèride, gairebé sense precedents, que significa la fundació i l’èxit d’un club d’accionariat popular com és l’FC. És per aquest motiu que, el reportatge que es presenta a continuació d’aquest Treball de Fi de Grau, té com a únics protagonistes els socis i aficionats de l’FC, així com alguns dels seus cofundadors i també periodistes esportius (residents a Manchester) especialitzats en el fenomen. Tots ells, que han acceptat formar part d’aquesta experiència, són els encarregats de construir el relat mitjançant els seus testimonis, sentiments i emocions personals. Gràcies a les aportacions de totes les seves veus, aquest reportatge ha pogut avançar sense caure en el parany d’esdevenir una còpia informativa del que ja se sap. Per contra, s’ha desenvolupat una peça radiofònica en què el que s’exposen són històries i vivències personals de l’ADN del club: la seva massa social. 1.2 Justificació El “Més que un Club” ha estat un dels eslògans més utilitzats pel Futbol Club Barcelona durant la darrera dècada, i fins i tot una mica més. Efectivament, el Barça va arribar a ser més que un club. Es va convertir en molt més que un club de futbol quan a l’estiu del 2006 va trencar la seva històrica política de no portar publicitat a la samarreta per passar a lluir el logotip i les lletres d’UNICEF, l’organització de les Nacions Unides (ONU) que proveeix d’ajuda humanitària i desenvolupament als nens i nenes en països en desenvolupament.1 En aquell moment, una època en què els clubs de futbol començaven la seva metamorfosi cap a les societats anònimes (SA),

    Manchester City Council Item 7 Executive 13 December 2017 Manchester City Council Report for Resolution Report to: Communities and Equalities Scrutiny Committee – 7 December 2017 Executive – 13 December 2017 Subject: Manchester Playing Pitch Strategy Report of: Deputy Chief Executive (Growth and Neighbourhoods) Summary The purpose of this report is to seek approval from the Communities and Equalities Scrutiny Committee and Executive on the vision and strategy for Manchester’s playing pitches. The Playing Pitch Strategy (PPS) will form part of the Council’s evidence base for sport and leisure. The PPS will frame the priorities for future investment and the continued development of the playing pitch and associated facility infrastructure across Manchester. The evidence base created will be utilised by the Local Planning Authority when considering planning applications in consultation with Sport England as a statutory consultee, who in turn will consult with National Governing Bodies of Sport as appropriate. Whilst the analysis within the PPS will assist in determining the priorities for investment, any playing pitch or associated infrastructure improvement and / or new development will be subject to sources of funding (primarily from external sources) being made available. Any development or disposal will also be subject to the development of a clear business case, impact assessment and where appropriate a funding application. Recommendations 1. Note the analysis undertaken, to agree the vision and strategic aims as described in section 4, and agree the recommendations, actions and strategic priorities listed in appendix 1, 2, and 3. 2. Delegate authority to the Deputy Chief Executive (Growth and Neighbourhoods Directorate) and the Director of Neighbourhoods, in consultation with the Executive member for Schools, Culture and Leisure, to agree a playing pitch strategy action plan in consultation with Sport England and National Governing Bodies of Sport, which together with this recommendation 2 and recommendation 1 above forms the adoption of the Manchester PPS.
