Social Activities La Herradura offers social and extra-curricular activities throughout the week to suit a wide range of budgets and tastes. You can make the most of your time in Montevideo, socialize with the other students, practice your Spanish on the locals, learn about the history and culture of Uruguay, and have a go at different sports and activities. Here are some photos of a selection of our social activities. Above: Horseriding in the Uruguayan countryside followed by a hearty BBQ. Right: Another BBQ, plus drinks and salad, on the school’s roof terrace. Below: A bicycle ride along the sea- front Rambla and a mate on the beach. Above: Winetasting and a guided tour at a vineyard with a collection of classic cars. Below and left: A football match. Left: Visit historic sights in the city with our teacher Juan. Below: Learn to dance the tango. Left: A guided tour of the Prado park’s Botanical Garden. Below: Annual rodeo and country fair to celebrate Gaucho culture. Above: A camping weekend with guided walks along the unspoilt ocean coast. Below: Famous sights on a guided bus tour to Punta del Este and its surrounding area. The activities vary from short, low-cost, after-class activities (a bike ride, visiting a park or a museum, a tango class) to whole day or weekend excursions (Punta del Este, outdoor activity weekends, camping), and they vary from week to week and throughout the year. Some may depend on the weather and the availability of equipment. A list of activities is displayed in the entrance hall and they are also presented at the Welcome meeting each Monday. Students are welcome to make their own suggestions for new activities and the school staff are ready to help students plan their free time in Uruguay. .
