Team facts • Brown has been caught offside ten times, along with NK Marior's Dalibor Volaš, the most in the group stage. • Once a midfielder and forward, the vastly experienced Yuri Semin is in his second spell as Dynamo coach, having won the 2008/09 Ukrainian title in his first stint when he also led the club to the UEFA Cup semi-finals. He made his name in his native Russia with FC Lokomotiv Moskva, winning titles in 2002 and 2004. • Maccabi parted company with coach Motti Iwanir on 5 December, after a run of four straight league defeats. FC Dynamo Kyiv, award of 12 October 2012 Panel: Mr José Juan Pintó Sala (Spain), President; Mr François Klein (France); Mr Michele Bernasconi (Switzerland) Football Transfer and solidarity contribution Limits in the power of review of CAS acting as appeal court Deduction of the amount corresponding to the solidarity mechanism from the transfer compensation Training compensation according to the FIFA RSTP Payment of the transfer price and additionally of the solidarity contribution based on contractual agreement between the two clubs 1. The CAS acting as appeal court cannot review and decide in the appeal proceedings on a claim on which the FIFA DRC, acting as a first instance body, did not decide because the competence to do so was ascribed and corresponds to the FIFA PSC. 2. In accordance with the FIFA RSTP, the amount corresponding to the solidarity mechanism shall be mandatorily deducted by the new club from the transfer compensation, not being the clubs entitled to derogate the aforementioned compulsory rule. Therefore, the parties were not permitted to determine that the amount of transfer compensation amounted to a sum net without deduction of the solidarity contribution, which made the FIFA DRC consider that Nancy already received from Dynamo the solidarity contribution relating to the relevant transfer of the Player. 3. According to article 21 FIFA RSTP, if a professional is transferred before the expiry of his contract, any club that has contributed to his education and training shall receive a proportion of the compensation paid to his previous club and (ii) pursuant to article 1 of Annex 5 of the FIFA RSTP, this compensation is quantified in 5% of any compensation, with the exception of training compensation, paid to the former club, this amount to be deducted from the total amount of this compensation and distributed by the new club as a solidarity contribution to the club(s) involved in the player’s his training and education over the years.

N°55 www.inyourpocket.com 2 FOREWORD Following the government’s decision on 21 November, 2013 to stop European Union integration by rejecting an association agreement, a series of mass protests has swept across Ukraine. 2,000 protesters gathered at Maidan Nezalezhnosti and began to organize themselves. A larger rally took place on 24 November, when 100,000 to 200,000 people gathered on Maidan. The pro-EU demonstrators carrying Ukrainian and EU flags chanted “Ukraine is Europe” and sang the national anthem as they marched toward European Square for the rally. On the night of 30 November 2013 at 4a.m. around 300 students and other protesters who remained were brutally attacked by the Berkut - a special police unit - who were armed with batons, stun gre- nades, and tear gas. They dispersed all protesters from Maidan Nezalezhnosti while suppressing mobile phone communications. By 1p.m.another meeting was gathering, with tens of thousands of Kyiv residents coming out to protest against the violence. On 1 December, about 200,000 came to Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti) to demonstrate for their rights and freedom. Since then, there have been daily demonstra- tions with the protesters committed to continue as long as needed, until their demands are fulfilled. Many foreigners have been drawn to Kyiv’s pro-European rallies in admiration for the spirited people power that has been on display and capturing world headlines.
