Now death has come to tear my breath away from me. There is none so clever that he is left behind. It said... Soul, you condemn me. (Soul) you could have saved us from this all. You’re blaming me Woe to your flesh, your blood If God made you in his own image when it’s you who have failed It’s only worth despair. then why did you just let me go astray when fateful choices came to us You were once quite eager, so brazen, when alive, You could have led us both another way Your saintly judgement failed To declare false judgements, to change two for five. It’s your neglect that brought us to this day (Both) Woe to your flesh, your blood I learned to follow you, I set to serve your pleasure. We built pavilions Be silent! Look how you lie here now. to the sky. (Soul) You were wild and wanton, so filled with foolish pride. You led me to my fortunes, now we both are lost. Tis I who did enlighten you. Now you’ll find your judgement, your witness will deride you. (Body) Pretension and bluster surrounded you in life Tis I who listened to you. So now your immortal soul is bleeding from your mortal knife. (Soul) Woe to your flesh, You throw at me these vile curses, your foulest blood. yet lie there swollen as a leather bottle. As you were once so hungry, devouring all you see. (Both) So the worms now eat you and you’ve brought the pain of hell on me. For all the flaws you have brought the world did you expect peace? Such a one would never risk their comfort. while you threatened poor men just to feel a thrill.
