VENICE CRUISE Friday 7 – Saturday 14, September 2018 Suggested Itinerary & Notes Fri 7th Arrive at Base : Casale House Boat, Via Nuova, Trevigiana di Lughignano N.10 1-31032 Casale Sul Sile. There is some good information on Le Boat website titled ‘Casale : Base, Travel and Arrival information’. There is a shop half a kilometre away for provisions. Rest- aurants are nearby. We will have a briefing that evening. Sat 8th Casale to Mazzorbo : 4/5 hrs passage. Lock at Portegrandi is open 0830-1230 and 1400- 1900. The lock is about 3 hrs from the Base. We will have a barbecue at Mazzorbo in the evening. Bring your own food and drink. The moorings at Mazzorbo are free for Le Boat/Houseboat clients. Sun 9 Vignole/Certosa Le Boat/Houseboat has moorings at Vignole which are free of charge. There is a marina at Certosa, not far away and equally accessible to central Venice. They have offered the LSC a flat rate of €50 per night/boat. This must be booked in advance. Tel : +39 320 2392 241 with Alberto Sonino. Mon10 Vignole/Certosa From here one can explore the Lagoon island and cruise up the Guidecca past Piazza San Marco and generally view Venice from the water. A visit can also be made to San Francesco del Deserto island monastery where one can tie up but not stay overnight. Tues 11 Vignole/Certosa : To visit Venice proper, the Dorsoduro, the Biennale at the Asenale and Murano (glass Blowing) access is by water bus, which is readily available and frequent. Wed 12 Vignole/Certosa As above Thurs 13 Make way back up the Sile River Fri 14 Dinner all together near the base Sat 15 Return boats/check out. Flights home Notes This is only a suggested itinerary as everybody has different ideas as to what they want to see and do on the cruise. Mazzorbo is a good point from which to visit Murano, San Francesco, Burano and Torcello. Torcello has some good restaurants. Vignole has Leboat/Houseboat moorings and is a quiet spot within a short walk of the water bus service directly into central Venice. There is a restaurant on the other side of the island, ten minutes walk away, Trattoria Alle Vignole (tel +39 041 528 9707). The moorings are free of charge but there are no facilities there. Certosa Marina is accessible to central Venice by waterbus. They have facilities.Water and electricity are charged for in addition to the €50 overnight fee. Provisions: It is probably worth buying as much of your week’s provisions at the shop near the Casale base as grocery shops are a bit far and few between on the islands. Sile River: There are a few places on the Sile River where you can moor up. Some of these are by restaurants but you do have to be eating at the restaurants to tie up on these jetties. There are some public jetties. VHF radios: It would be useful to bring a hand held VHF radio if you have one. ‘Charts’: It is possible to obtain a ‘chart’ and a very useful English publication Itinari Fluvial of the area in advance from Raffaela at the Casale base. These are also supplied on arrival. Insect Repellent : Necessary in some places. There is a good pharmacy at Mazzorbo. Waterbus System : The water buses are very quick and frequent and are the easiest way of getting around Venice. The waterborne route map for the waterbuses can be found on www.actv.it. It is also possible to buy tickets for 1, 2 or three days at €20,€30, and €40 (or more if required). This can be done in advance on the same website. .
