GORCZYCA Abstract: The genus Peritropis UHLER from the Oriental Region is revised. Six new species of the genus are described from Brunei, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. All type material, except P. lugubris POPPIUS, has been examined. All known species from the Oriental Region are redescribed. Illustrations of the dorsal habitus, male and female genitalia, tarsi, fore- and hind legs are provided. The possible phyl- etic relationships of this taxon are briefly discussed. Key words: Sulawesifulvius, new genus, new species, Sulawesi, taxonomy Introduction Thirteen specimens of an amazing bug, collected by fogging the forest canopy of Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park (formerly Dumoga Bone National Park), Sulawesi, Indone- sia, were found by the senior author in the collections of The Natural History Museum (London). These specimens possess an unusual set of character states which at first glance made the family status of these bugs uncertain. More detailed examination proved that they have subdivided trochanters, trichobothria on meso- and metafemora, and a cuneus, and bicellulated membrane on each hemelytron. These states indicate that they belong to the family Miridae. -

The number A of abdominal segments varies, however; there are only six in the Collembola (springtails), 9–12 in the Protura, and 10 in the Diplura, whereas in all other hexapods there are strictly 11. Insects are now regarded as comprising only those hexapods with 11 abdominal segments. Whereas crustaceans are the dominant group of arthropods in the sea, hexapods prevail on land, in numbers and biomass. Altogether, the Hexapoda constitutes the most diverse group of animals – the estimated number of described species worldwide is just over 900,000, with the beetles (order Coleoptera) comprising more than a third of these. Today, the Hexapoda is considered to contain four classes – the Insecta, and the Protura, Collembola, and Diplura. The latter three classes were formerly allied with the insect orders Archaeognatha (jumping bristletails) and Thysanura (silverfish) as the insect subclass Apterygota (‘wingless’). The Apterygota is now regarded as an artificial assemblage (Bitsch & Bitsch 2000). -

Devido a isso, este artigo foi desenvolvido visando apresentar as espécies de Miridae que possuem associações ou potenciais associações com plantas no Brasil. Para isso, foram realizadas consultas de artigos, livros e coleções de museus. Ao todo, foram encontradas 168 espécies de mirídeos associadas a plantas; estes dados foram manipulados para a elaboração de gráficos representando as interações entre as espécies de percevejos e as plantas hospedeiras no Brasil. As famílias botânicas Poaceae, Asteraceae, Fabaceae e Solanaceae apresentaram mais espécies de mirídeos associadas e incluem importantes culturas para a economia do país. Com base nestas associações, é possível contribuir para ampliar o conhecimento sobre a biologia e o comportamento alimentar de mirídeos, além de fornecer informações sobre o impacto que podem gerar nos sistemas de produção agrícola no Brasil. The taxonomic review of the New World Cylapini genera Amapacylapus Carvalho & Fontes,1968 and Cylapus Say, 1832 is provided, including a key to species, diagnoses and redescriptions of genera and most included species, and descrip- tions of two new species, Amapacylapus unicolor sp. nov. (Ecuador) and Cylapus luridus sp. nov. (Brazil). Illustrations of the male genitalia, color photographs of the adult and scanning electron micrographs of the selected species are provided. The genus Cylapocerus Carvalho & Fontes, 1968 syn. nov. is proposed as a junior synonym of Cylapus with all species currently placed in Cylapocerus transferred to Cylapus. Seven new species: Cylapocoris costaricaensis sp. nov., C. cucullatus sp. nov., C. fulvus sp. nov., C. laevigatus sp. nov., C. marmoreus sp. nov., C. plectipennis sp. nov., and C. sim- plex sp. nov. are described from Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador, and Venezuela. The genus Adcylapocoris Carvalho, 1989 is synonymized with Cylapocoris. Five species: C. castaneus (Carvalho, 1989), C. funebris (Distant, 1883), C. pilosus Car- valho, 1954, C. sulinus Carvalho & Gomes 1971, and C. tiquiensis Carvalho, 1954 are redescribed. A new species of Peritropis bruneica is described on the basis of specimens collected in Brunei. The key to the species of Peritropis-thailandica group from the Oriental Region is presented. INTRODUCTION The genera Peritropis UHLER and Fulvius STÅL are the most numerous of the subfamily Cylapinae. Genus Peritropis contains more than 70 species known all over the World (SCHUH 1995; GORCZYCA 2006a; MOULDS and CASSIS 2006). This genus is the most speciose in the Old World, where about 50 species have been reported so far (GORCZYCA 2006ab). In a recent revision of this genus from the Oriental region, five groups of species were established: lewisi, nigripenis, poppiana, suturella and thai- landica, on the basis of coloration and external morphology (GORCZYCA 2006b). The thailandica-group contains three species in the Oriental Region: P. electilis BERGROTH, P. sulawesica GORCZYCA and P. thailandica GORCZYCA. Within the material borrowed from the Natural History Museum in London, the senior author found two representatives of the genus Peritropis belonging to the thai- landica-group. They represent a new species, whose description is given below. -

Heteroptera, Miridae, Cylapinae, Fulvius stysi, taxonomy, new species, genitalia, Papua New Guinea Introduction Fulvius Stål, 1862 is one of the most numerous and most diverse genera within the subfamily Cylapinae of the family Miridae. Representatives of the genus occur worldwide, mainly in warm regions, but a few species are also known from temperate zones in the Palaearctic and Nearctic regions (CHÉROT et al. 2006, GORCZYCA 2006, YASUNAGA & MIYAMOTO 2006). The biology of Fulvius species is little known. Some probably are predators of small invertebrates, whereas other species have been reported from orchids and fungi (GORCZYCA 2006). Recently three groups of species have been established within the genus: anthocoroides-complex, includ- ing mainly Old World species, bisbistilatus-complex for Neotropical species and bifenestratus- complex for Oriental and Australian species (SADOWSKA-WODA 2005, GORCZYCA 2006). Among material collected in Papua New Guinea and housed in the Institut Royal des Sciences Naturelles de Belgique (Brussels, Belgium), we found several representatives of the genus Fulvius. -

Nevertheless their importance there are few knowledge about the community of arthropods associated to vegetation in arid zones in the North of Mexico. The present study had the objective of determining the abundance, richness and diversity of arthropods in three localities where there are natural populations of mescal agave in the State of Durango, Mexico. Approach: In order to know the structure community of the arthropods associated to the mescal agave, we perform a sampling schedule during March 2008 to November 2010 by direct collection, using transects in three different localities with the presence of mescal agave. The relative abundance, species richness, Shannon’s diversity index, Pielou’s Index of evenness, Jaccard’s similitude and Simpson’s dominance indexes were determined. -

The generic phylogeny of Cassis, Schwartz, and Moulds (2003) is re-analysed to include the new taxon, with additions and corrections, and a new sister-group relationship is established.
