Treasurer - Ashley De Vera Davey Groundstaff - Tony Foster, Paul Duncan Web Site & Prog Editor - Nigel Sheen WELCOME TO THE Welcome to the players and officials of The New Saints ESSITY STADIUM for this afternoon’s game. Our previous two matches have highlighted the lows and highs in football, going from the depths of despair in the 2-0 home defeat to Caernarfon to the ecstasy of recording an excellent 2-1 win at Penybont. Our league position still remains precarious, but come the phase 2 games, I’m becoming more and more confident we have the necessary quality and know how in our squad to finish above the bottom two placings. Before we get there, however, we have to negotiate two very tricky games, with Bala Town our final phase 1 opponents following today’s game. Our last encounter with TNS was, of course, the crushing 10-0 defeat. I’ve just about stopped having nightmares about that afternoon, and my therapy sessions are now coming to an end ! Let’s hope for a much improved performance today, otherwise I might need to book in for another course. The news that Tier 2 leagues will not go ahead this season, does throw relegation from the Cymru Premier into doubt, although to the best of my knowledge no firm decision on this has yet been announced. But if it does transpire that there is no automatic relegation, then we must ensure that achieving the Domestic Licence once again is our number one priority. People are working very hard behind the scenes to make sure this happens, and it certainly won’t be for the want of trying. We are desperately keen to stay in this league, given how long it took us to return here, and it would be a real shame for all of our supporters to have missed out on witnessing Cymru Premier football first hand, given the fact we have had to play this season behind closed doors, should we not be part of the set up again for next season. I know that our manager Neil Gibson has great plans in place for the future, and he and his staff will be doing their utmost to ensure we stay in the league on merit.

Come on the Silkmen !!

Hannah_Blythyn 01352 762102 FROM THE CHAIRMAN A warm welcome to the players and officials of TNS who have made the trip up from mid-Wales today. Well, what a difference a win makes. The return trip from South Wales last Saturday was highly satisfying and refreshing following our team’s fantastic win over high flying Penybont. We flew out of the traps and the commitment and endeavour of the team is testimony to the complete buy in from the squad towards Neil Gibson’s exacting expectations and regime. To that end there were a number of players who looked a physically different shape than they had previously. The statistics for the match in terms of our team’s running also bore that out. We really were the better side and hopefully we can look forward to a more successful time on the pitch as we move into the second phase. It is important on a number of levels that we do well irrespective of the announcement that Tier 2 is cancelled for this season. The squad needs to experience winning matches so we can launch a platform to be competitive in the Welsh Prem next season. I won’t say much more than that other than if I am in an Eastern European bar clutching a beer in August 2022 I will be a very happy man…

The Domestic Licence procedure draws to a close. Our information has now been sent to FAW and let’s hope we achieve the DL once more. As usual huge thanks to club secretary, Keith Roberts, for the work he has undertaken with the DL. Mention should also be made of the support he has had recently from Nigel Sheen. As you may be aware Nigel has also stepped up to take up the role of Covid Officer. This role necessarily means he has to take decisions and make assertions which are not the most popular in the land. However, FAW are already giving us positive feedback regarding Nigel’s input. This does us no harm whatsoever. Darryl

04.03.2021 TBC AWAY Bala Town FC FROM THE MANAGER Today we welcome TNS players, staff and board members to the Essity stadium for what should be a very exciting game.

TNS have long been the standard bearers in the league and we are fully aware of the significant threats they pose. Having watched them against Cefn Druids last week they look close to their best in a convincing win.

However, our lads go into today’s fixture full of confidence on the back of an excellent win and performance away against Penybont last weekend. A special mention for the board in backing my idea to stay over in South Wales on Friday before the game to allow us to give the players the best preparation possible.

The players have trained extremely well this week and we are hoping to continue the improvements we are showing, players are putting in a huge amount of effort and commitment to come together as a group and implement the different philosophy and methodology I want us to play with. Matched only by the efforts of all volunteers involved at the club behind the scenes supporting the intensive weekly structure to training & game preparation I am driving. We are very grateful for your hard work.

We have seen elements of philosophy coming out against Connah’s Quay & Penybont, our aim is to now build on that, keep improving and find a level of consistency.

The group know that we all have to be at our very best to get a positive result out of today’s game against a very strong TNS team. But the challenge is one as players and staff we are all relishing.

Enjoy the game Gibbo

FLINT TOWN ARE UNITED AGAINST RACISM. TOGETHER LET’S KICK IT OUT OF FOOTBALL. MATCH FLINT TOWN UNITED 0 CAERNARFON TOWN 2 REVIEW JD CYMRU PREMIER, 13th MARCH 2021 SUBDUED FLINT SUFFER THIRD STRAIGHT DEFEAT FOLLOWING RESTART

.A disappointing display from the Silkmen left them still seeking their first goal and first points since the season restarted. Following the plaudits of their performance against champions Connah's Quay on Tuesday night, this was very much back a step backwards for Flint, with the side struggling to create chances, and all too often being guilty of gifting possession away due to unforced errors, especially in the first half. The game started with a swirling wind making conditions difficult, and players struggling to keep their footing on an awkward playing surface, which had been deluged with overnight rain. It was Caernarfon who got to grips with the situation the quicker, and they carved out a succession of early chances. On seven minutes, as Flint struggled to clear, a rebound fell into the path of Jake Bickerstaffe, who ran into the area, and Jon Rushton was called upon to block his shot. Then, Noah Edwards struck a free kick from the edge of the box, which curled just wide of the post. A minute later, Sion Bradley cut in from the right, unleashed a shot but Rushton got down to save on his near post. Flint had been forced into an early substitution after only 9 minutes, when Jordan Buckley had to leave the field with a thigh strain. His replacement, Conor Harwood, had the Silkmen's first chance on 20 minutes, following a corner. Ben Nash met the ball, and powered a header at goal, but Josh Amis was unable to get a vital flick, and instead it was cleared off the line. As it came back out, Harwood got a glancing touch to direct it back towards goal, and the ball seemed to brush the base of the post, as it went just wide of the target. Caernarfon were getting most of their joy from attacking down the right, and Bickerstaffe came in from that side on 23 minutes, rode a challenge, and hit a shot that Rushton had to smother at the foot of his post. The rest of the half petered out with neither side creating any serious chances on goal. At the start of the second half, Flint finally sparked into life, and began to play with more urgency, and put together some nice passages of play. On 50 minutes, some nice one touch passing released Harwood, but Cofi's keeper Josh Tibbetts together with the help of a covering defender, thwarted the Flint man as he broke through on goal. The game was now increasingly being played in the Caernarfon half, but despite the pressure they were exerting, clear cut chances for the home side remained few and far between. A rare foray forward from the visitors just after the hour mark, resulted in a corner, from which they opened the scoring. Paulo Mendes and Gareth Edwards both went up for the ball, as Flint's defenders stood off, and Mendes looked to get the final touch with a header into the corner. That proved to be a bitter blow for the Silkmen, and just a few minutes later, they conceded again. This time, a throw in on the right was flicked on, and the ball was quickly played into Sion Bradley, who was allowed too much time and space in the area, and he slotted the ball past Rushton. It could have got worse for Flint on 71 minutes, when from a free kick delivered into the box, Edwards headed onto Kenny, who in turn headed against the bar, Flint staged a late rally with ten minutes remaining, and created some half chances, but the Cofi's defence stood up to the test and on each occasion either cleared their lines or blocked the efforts. Goal scoring remains something of a problem for the Silkmen, and this is the third successive game they have drawn a blank. Line Ups: Flint Town United - J. Rushton, B. Nash, E. Clarke, B. Maher, E. FROM THE SKIPPER Good afternoon all, What a fantastic result we achieved down in South Wales last weekend. An intense week of training and planning paired with the best possible preparation with the over night accommodation gave us the best possible platform to pick up the points away to Penybont. I was extremely proud of the team as we headed back up home on Saturday evening. To a man the workrate and desire was incredible and the boys deserve full credit. I feel the lads are really starting to grasp Gibbo’s philosophy and what he expects from us as a group when we enter the field. His first 6 games have been far from ideal in terms of preparation and also timings, however, I really feel we turned a corner last weekend and will be looking to build on that win. Today we face an extremely tough challenge going up against a very strong team. We know the qualities that TNS posses and the size of the task on our hands. Personally the earlier away fixture was one of the lowest moments in my career, suffering such a heavy defeat was very hard to take and will stay with me for a long time. Although the squad has changed some what since that first meeting we will all be looking to put a performance in this club can be proud of and try to avenge that defeat. We have 2 huge game remaining before the split and the lads can’t wait to get back out there. Competition for places is high and I’m sure all the squad will be utilised between now and the end of the season. Astles made his competitive debut in the UEFA Europa League, in August 2020, as The New Saints beat Slovakian side, MŠK Žilina, after extra-time. MATCH PENYBONT 1 FLINT TOWN UNITED 2 JD CYMRU PREMIER, 20th MARCH 2021 REVIEW FLINT CLAIM FIRST POINTS AFTER THE RESTART

After three goalless home games since the restart, Flint came out firing in South Wales and deservedly took all three points They were the more accomplished side from the off, and the front three of Josh Amis, Callum Bratley and Conor Harwood were soon proving a real handful for the Penybont defence. The midfield also looked to have more solidity and bite than in recent weeks, with the returning Alex Jones making a major difference. A slick move down the left carved open the Bont defence after seven minutes. Amis started it, laying the ball off to Bratley, who instantly played an incisive ball into Sam Hart, who galloped towards the bye-line before delivering an inviting cross onto the head of Amis, who much to his own disgust, was unable to direct it on target. Harwood's pace was also causing problems for the home defence, and he almost got in between and keeper Ashley Morris, but Morris bravely came out and won the ball, with both players coming together in a nasty looking collision. Flint's pressure was soon telling in terms of corners, and Morris, not the tallest of custodians, was clearly having trouble dealing with inswingers. So much so, that a Sam Hart delivery on 36 minutes (left), sailed right over him and eluded all of the other players, before nestling in the far corner to give the Silkmen a deserved lead from the unlikeliest of sources. Flint maintained their tempo, and were rewarded with another goal on 42 minutes. This time Tom Kemp was in an advance position down the right flank, and he fired in a ball across the face of the eighteen yard box, which Bratley met with aplomb to sweep it into the corner of the net. Rhys Griffiths made a double substitution for his side at half time, as they sought to force their way back into the game. One of the new arrivals was Lewis Clutton, and he was to prove the most potent threat for Penybont. On 65 minutes, Kai Edwards was deceived by the bounce of the ball, and Clutton profited and ran through towards the bye-line. He tried to squeeze his shot past Jon Rushton from the narrowest of angles, but ithe keeper blocked it with his legs and then safely collected the loose ball. Flint were now content to sit back and soak up the pressure and look to hit on the break. Amis, though, was a constant threat for the visitors, and the big centre forward had the ball in the net on the hour mark, but he was adjudged to have fouled a defender in the build up, and so the goal was ruled out. He then let fly on 70 minutes from just inside the box, but Morris managed to get fingertips on the ball to divert it around the post. Another dangerous mover on the counter attack saw Bratley released in space, with just Morris to beat. But this time, the striker's finish couldn't match the quality of his earlier effort, and he snatched at his shot, sending it wide of the target. Rushton was called upon to deny Nathan Wood with a strong hand which he used to divert the striker's effort up and over his crossbar. Then, deep into stoppage time, Penybont did manage to pull a goal back, to deny Flint the clean sheet their performance probably merited, and it was that man Clutton who tucked it away. With his back to goal, just outside of the box he received the ball, turned and sprinted through on goal to slot it past Rushton. However, the points were safe and it was merely a late consolation for the hosts. After last week's misfiring performance, this was a much needed boost, and has set the standard for the players to emulate in the games ahead Line Ups : Penybont: Ashley Morris, Kane Owen ©, Ashley Evans, Dan Jefferies, Kostya Georgievsky, Lewis Harling, Ben Ahmun (Sam Snaith 46’), Nathan Wood (Rhys Stevens 88’), Oliver Dalton (Lewis Clutton 46’), Connor Davies (Matthew Harris 46’), Ismail Yakubu (Billy Borge 83’).
