Important Notice: Closure of ’s Main Railway Station in Late September 2014

Leipzig’s main railway station will be completely closed between 12 noon, Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 and 12 noon, Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014. The reason for the closure is extensive adaptations to software at the electronic control center in Leipzig.

The closure will necessitate the following changes in long-distance railway traffic:

 ICE/IC Line 28.2 (Kiel - ) Hamburg - Berlin - Leipzig – Nuremberg - Munich will be diverted via Bitterfeld – * - with additional stops along the way.  ICE Line 28.3 Kiel - Hamburg - Berlin - Leipzig will not run between Berlin and Leipzig. Shuttle trains will run between Berlin and Leipzig Trade Fair  IC/ICE Line 50 Wiesbaden - - - Leipzig - Dresden: - Trains from Frankfurt Airport to Dresden will make additional stops in Naumburg, at Leipzig/Halle Airport and at Leipzig Trade Fair..... – Trains from Wiesbaden to Leipzig will make additional stops in Naumburg and Halle and will also end or begin in Halle.* ICE double train 296/297 Berlin - Erfurt - Frankfurt - Interlaken East will likewise run via Halle.*  IC Line 55 Cologne - Dortmund - Hannover – Dresden will make an additional stop at Leipzig Trade Fair.  IC Line 56 Norddeich Mole - Emden - Bremen - Hannover – Leipzig will make an additional stop at Leipzig/Halle Airport and at Leipzig Trade Fair and will end or begin at Leipzig Trade Fair.

Additional IC trains in the Halle/Leipzig region will run as follows:  IC 1933 Oldenburg - Bremen - Hannover - - Dessau - Leipzig ends in Magdeburg**  IC 1949 Hannover - Magdeburg - Leipzig ends in Halle*  IC 1951 Frankfurt - Fulda - Kassel - Nordhausen - Halle - Leipzig will not run.  IC 1955 Frankfurt - Erfurt - Leipzig travels from Weissenfels to Halle* and ends there. IC 1959 Cologne - Ruhr Region - Kassel - Erfurt - Leipzig - Dresden will also stop at Leipzig/Halle Airport and Leipzig Trade Fair.  ICE double train 1745/1746 Dresden - Leipzig - Erfurt - Kassel - Ruhr Region - Düsseldorf will also stop at Leipzig Trade Fair and Leipzig/Halle Airport.

All long-distance trains will not stop at Leipzig’s main railway station (above and below).

*Connection from Halle to Leipzig  S-Bahn (suburban train) S5X runs hourly to Leipzig Trade Fair and Leipzig Main Railway Station: 7:14 a.m., 8:14 a.m., 9:14 a.m., 10:14 a.m., etc.  S- Bahn (suburban train) S3 runs every half hour to Leipzig Main Railway Station: 7:19 a.m., 7:49 a.m., 8:19 a.m., 8:49 a.m., etc.

The travel time is circa 25 to 36 minutes.

**For IC 1933, which ends in Magdeburg: Change trains in Magdeburg and board IC 2049 to Dresden – this train stops at Leipzig Trade Fair.
