It could be a trip to a shopping centre or an office block or even a pickup to and from the airport. ii) ‘Disposal’ refers to having your car and chauffeur ready at your DISPOSAL. You can get the chauffeur to bring you anywhere you want for food, shopping, tours, meetings etc. Having the car at your convenience may mean paying a little more but what is that compared to the convenience you will enjoy. 2. LIMOUSINE HIRE i) General Terms & Conditions a) Rates include hire of vehicle, insurance, maintenance, fuel costs, service of the chauffeur, parking and unlimited mileage. Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and any toll fees (applicable for Malaysia usage only) shall be borne by the hirer. b) All chauffeurs are dressed in White shirts, Black pants, Grey Tie and our corporate tie pin. c) For MICE events, event organizer must ensure that adequate complimentary parking is provided for the cars requested. Otherwise, hirer shall pay for any parking or passes required. Page | 2 d) Additional Stop (01 max) will be chargeable at $10 per stop for Saloon cars, $20 per stop for 09 – 23 Seaters, and $40 per stop for Coaches 40S. An Additional Transfer will be billed if stop is more than 3kms away from original pick-up/drop-off point. e) For “No Show’ of Customer, the full Transfer or Disposal rate shall apply. ii) Waiting Time a) For City Transfers, waiting time is strictly 15mins. For Airport Arrivals and Departure, waiting time is strictly 30mins. b) Any delay exceeding the waiting time, an additional Transfer will be charged accordingly. iii) Penalties for Cancellations a) For Transfer: One-Way Transfer. Outside 24 hours from Time of Pickup, no charge. A minimum charge of 6 hours is levied. ii) Chauffeurs can be hired on an ad hoc basis to drive a wedding vehicle, drive your bosses’ car when the chauffeur is sick or even to valet cars during a car launch event or any big event. A minimum charge of 5 hours is required. iii) Traffic Marshals for crowd and traffic control are available. A minimum charge of 6 hours is levied. iv) Tour guides can be requested to bring VIPs around Singapore and Malaysia. Please state whether you prefer a Chinese or English speaking Guide. A minimum charge of 6 hours is levied. v) Valets can be requested to park vehicles at a new Condominium or Event launch. A minimum charge of 6 hours is levied. a. The Malaysia-Singapore Joint Ministerial Committee for Iskandar Malaysia (JMCIM) held its thirteenth meeting in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru. The meeting was co-chaired by YB Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Malaysia’s Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and H.E. Minister Khaw Boon Wan, Singapore's Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport. Also present were the Menteri Besar of Johor, YAB Dato' Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Singapore's Minister for National Development, H.E. Minister Lawrence Wong. Senior officials from both countries were also present. 2. At the meeting, Singapore and Malaysia reaffirmed the progress of Iskandar Malaysia and reiterated their commitment to its continued development. The JMCIM noted the substantive progress achieved by the High Speed Rail (HSR) Work Group in the planning of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore HSR project since its formation in December 2013. With the signing of the HSR Bilateral Agreement by the respective Ministers on 13 December 2016, the work of the HSR Work Group has officially been completed. A HSR Bilateral Committee (HSR BC), led by senior government officials from both countries, has since been formed to oversee matters that may affect the international services and all other matters detailed in the Bilateral Agreement.     ASSESSING MANGROVE Hong Ching Goh CONSERVATION EFFORTS IN ISKANDAR MALAYSIA ASSESSING MANGROVE CONSERVATION EFFORTS IN ISKANDAR MALAYSIA by Hong Ching Goh MIT-UTM Malaysia Sustainable Cities Program Massachusetts Institute of Technology Abstract Despite the importance of mangrove ecosystems, they are being destroyed more quickly than all other types of forests around the world. The causes of mangrove destruction vary, but are most closely associated with human population growth and the dynamics of urbanization. Urban development has been identified as one of the key threats to mangrove survival in many emerging coastal cities in developing countries. This paper explores mangrove conservation efforts in Iskandar Malaysia, the fastest growing economic region in southern Peninsular Malaysia. Specifically, I assess the extent to which existing urban planning efforts are helping to conserve mangrove in a developing coastal zone. I conclude that the top-down planning efforts of the federal and state government are undervaluing the extent to which mangroves provide important ecosystem services. I recommend a more comprehensive planning approach that emphasizes 1) greater public participation at the local level, 2) more substantial involvement of the regional planning and development authority, 3) more extensive protection of existing mangrove forest reserves and 4) stricter enforcement of environmental impact assessment requirements. Overall, this paper contributes to the empirical literature on urbanization and nature conservation in developing countries. In the case of Iskandar Malaysia, the existing urban planning system—which favors economic development—has become a double-edged sword vis a vis nature conservation: a common problem in many emerging economic regions in developing world. Nevertheless, strategic and methodological mechanisms can be applied to offset many of the negative impacts of the urban planning system.
