"We can't wait to work there again." —David Homan, Orchestrated Connections —Melissa Moschitto, The Anthropologists "I recently hosted a large event with Town Stages, and they were absolutely wonderful! The Town Stages team was accessible throughout the entire planning process, helping to answer questions and field ideas. Beyond their technical assistance and impressive knowledge of the space, the team was incredibly fun to work with. Their personalities shine. Although planning events can often be overwhelming, their demeanor helped make the whole thing enjoyable. The space, itself, was fantastic – with enough flexibility to add our own flare, while still enjoying the evergreen venue setup that feels spacious, warm and modern. I received dozens of compliments about the space, and hope to work with Town again in the future! I could not recommend them highly enough." —JORDAN STARR, QUEERTY TOWN STAGES 5 BUILDING THE NEXT STOREFRONT It's time to say YES to more business by making more space. Don DeLillo’s Promiscuous Fictions: The Adulterous Triangle of Sex, Space, and Language Diana Marie Jenkins A thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy The School of English University of NSW, December 2005 This thesis is dedicated to the loving memory of a wonderful grandfather, and a beautiful niece. I wish they were here to see me finish what both saw me start. Contents Acknowledgements 1 Introduction 2 Chapter One 26 The Space of the Hotel/Motel Room Chapter Two 81 Described Space and Sexual Transgression Chapter Three 124 The Reciprocal Space of the Journey and the Image Chapter Four 171 The Space of the Secret Conclusion 232 Reference List 238 Abstract This thesis takes up J. G. Ballard’s contention, that ‘the act of intercourse is now always a model for something else,’ to show that Don DeLillo uses a particular sexual, cultural economy of adultery, understood in its many loaded cultural and literary contexts, as a model for semantic reproduction. I contend that DeLillo’s fiction evinces a promiscuous model of language that structurally reflects the myth of the adulterous triangle. The thesis makes a significant intervention into DeLillo scholarship by challenging Paul Maltby’s suggestion that DeLillo’s linguistic model is Romantic and pure. My analysis of the narrative operations of adultery in his work reveals the alternative promiscuous model. I discuss ten DeLillo novels and one play – Americana, Players, The Names, White Noise, Libra, Mao II, Underworld, the play Valparaiso, The Body Artist, Cosmopolis, and the pseudonymous Amazons – that feature adultery narratives.

  • Rockefeller Center Flag Project, As Part of Kamilleon, an Artistic Immersion for Young Adults with Neurological Differences
    The Flag Project 2020 Catalog The Flag Project Celebrating New York This Spring, we asked people across the world to show their love for New York by designing flags that would be flown in a temporary art installation on the 193 poles surrounding the iconic Rink at Rockefeller Center. We invited artists of all abilities to help us dream up new ways to celebrate the diverse culture, vibrant energy, and strength of New York City. And celebrate New York we did – The Flag Project generated well over a thousand incredible responses, garnering creative and inspiring submissions, not just from New York and the U.S., but from across the world. The designs were hand-crafted, star-spangled, brilliantly bold, and digitally decorated – and they expressed a true love of the City and demonstrated a sense of community that is at the core of all Rockefeller Center does and believes in. The Flag Project helped us usher in a new era of togetherness and human connection amidst a difficult time. We’re proud to fly these beautiful works of art for all to see, in the heart of New York. 4 5 The Flag Project Map Flags are arranged in alphabetical order according to artists’ last names Channel Gardens & 5th Avenue Building #6 Building #5 E-F P-R O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O Fountain O O Fountain O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O B-D R-T O O O O O O O F-H M-P O O O O The Rink O 49th Street 50th Street O O O Summer at O O O O South Esplanade North Esplanade O O A-B Fountain O O Fountain O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O Prometheus O O O O O O Sculpture O W-Z O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O B H-M H-M V-W Entrance to 30 Rock The Flag Project Featured Artists New York wouldn’t be New York without its diverse, page 10 Marina Abramović inspiring collective of local artists.
