The Award Created especially for the Technology Innovation Awards by Dockyard Glassworks, this unique award is made of intricate colour lobes infused in clear blown glass, depicting innovation and creativity. The design was created by Oliver and Stephen Zawistowski and manufactured by Alan Avery at Dockyard, Bermuda. Message from the Minister The Hon. Wayne Caines, JP, MP, Minister of National Security

“Technology is today’s greatest enabler of progress.” The Department of ICT Policy & Innovation within the Ministry of National Security recognises this and consistently promotes initiatives that encourage innovation through technology, e-skills development and e-entrepreneurship. The Technology innovation Awards, or TechAwards, are the Island’s opportunity to celebrate advancements and achievements among the ranks of Bermuda’s technology trendsetters. Let me list a few of the recent TechAwards winners: I believe we are familiar with many of them. For example, International Innovation of the Year winners like Quo Vadis, First Atlantic Commerce Trunomi, and Hamilton Insurance Group. Local Innovation of the Year winners like Gateway Systems, Easy Park, Bermuda Virtual Tours, and LookBermuda. Best New Mobile Apps like Hitch, Gorham’s and the Bermuda Football Association mobile app. And the yearly recognition of the Best Youth Technology Program, Teachers, or Mentors including Donna Swainson-Robinson, Steve Lawrence, Bermuda Robotics Club, Michael Branco, TLF, and many more. These and other TechAwards winners have demonstrated the many innovative, compelling, exciting ways in which technology has enhanced life here in Bermuda, and indeed globally. Every time a Bermudian is given the opportunity to strive for success, they continually impress us with their drive, creativity, and hard work. Bermuda’s entrepreneurs and innovators are not afraid of buckle down, persevere, and shine. So, I am pleased to present you with this 10th Anniversary TechAwards Tribute to individuals and companies who have won this distinguished award over the years.

Wayne Caines, JP, MP, Minister of National Security The Purpose of the TechAwards The Department of ICT Policy and Innovation within the Ministry of National Security works to foster a culture of technology and e-business excellence by supporting, instigating and facilitating, as appropriate, the continued growth and advancement of technology, technology-related business opportunities, legislation, skills and access, so that Bermuda continues to develop and be recognized as a prime and sophisticated jurisdiction in which to live and conduct business electronically. The work of the department is intellectual in nature, with the output being the promotion of Bermuda as a sophisticated technology and e-business jurisdiction. The Technology Innovation Awards is one way the department facilitates this objective by inviting the public to nominate Bermuda based companies, organizations or individuals who are doing outstanding things in the technology field.

How the TechAwards Nomination Process Functions By inviting the public to submit nominations, the TechAward Committee is assured of discovering the best business related technology practices and best technology education processes being accomplished in Bermuda today.

Nominations are sought for four specific categories 1. Innovation of the Year - International Market 2. Innovation of the Year - Local Market 3. Mobile Application of the Year 4. Most Innovative Youth Project/Program

How to place your nominations Nominations for the 4 specific categories are submitted by the TechAward Committee to a panel of distinguished judges who evaluate each nominee and select the top five entries in each category for recognition. In order to submit a nomination online, select the category for which you are nominating your candidate. Fill in all the boxes next to each question. Enter the security code and SUBMIT. All nominations will be acknowledged by an email to the entity submitting the nomination. All TechAward Nominations must be made through the TechAwards Website (www.techawards.bm). The TechAwards Committee does not accept entries received by mail or by other means.

All entries are screened by the TechAwards Committee to assure they meet all qualifications of the criteria. Once approved they are passes on to the Judge’s Panel. Congtatulations Winners 2007 - 2017 TECHAWARDWinners

LookBermuda/CahowCam There was a tie for Local Innovation of the Year between Jobber.bm LookBermuda’s live streaming technology for the Nonsuch Island Most Innovative Mobile App CahowCam, and the employment match-making website, Jobber.bm. Gorham’s Ltd Citing the attributes of the Local Innovation winners, the judges noted Most Innovative Youth Program the creative use of technology developed by Jean-Pierre Rouja. The BIOS- HSBC Explorer Program infrared ‘CahowCam,’ was for the first time ever being streamed live People’s Choice TechAward 24/7 on the Nonsuch Island website powered by solar collectors. Five Star Home Delivery Incredibly enough, there was a dead heat finish with co-winner Jobber. bm, the island’s new interactive job market where one can either post jobs or look for casual jobs on the island. Website founder Stafford Lowe noted the site’s remarkable growth since its launch in April. Over 1,300 members have successfully listed over 300 jobs which, upon completion, generated over $40,000 in revenue for the contractors. The Most Innovative Mobile Application was won by Gorham’s for their iOS mobile apps developed in-house by Rod Farrington. These apps allow the retailer to integrate multiple platforms, devices & data files into one focused mobile price-checking and inventory control platform. The Most Innovative Youth Programme was judged to be BIOS’s HSBC Explorer Programme which trains M2 teachers to mentor their classes as they build underwater drone vehicles. The participating classes will take part in a competition at the National Stadium pool, which is scheduled for March 2015. As far as the People’s Choice TechAward, Five Star Home Delivery rallied their customer base to capture this contest which was run on Facebook. TECHAWARDWinners
