Junior PLAYERS OF THE WEEK forward Kate Burnett of Hendrix scored the Warriors’ game-winner on Sunday against the University of Dallas. Burnett’s second goal of the season put the Warriors on top, 1-0, during the Week 1 Amelia Wildeborg, Hendrix 55th minute of play. Junior midfielder Leslie Robichaux of Millsaps netted her team-leading eighth goal and third game-winner of the year in a 1-0 shutout of Oglethorpe on Friday. Senior midfielder Week 2 Brooke Shipley, DePauw Kara Purdy of Rhodes led the Lynx to two wins this weekend, scoring a goal in the Lynx’ 2-0 win Week 3 Nicole Wendschlag, Centre over University of Dallas and the game-winning goal in a 3-0 shutout of Austin College. Purdy’s Becca Clarin, Rhodes game-winner against Austin also clinched at least a share of the 2008 SCAC Championship for Week 4 Katy Joyner, Rhodes the Lynx and the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Purdy’s game-winner Week 5 Elizabeth Sooby, Millsaps against Austin gives the Lynx their first SCAC title since the 1991 season and the program’s first- Week 6 Danika Wright, Trinity ever NCAA Tournament berth. Junior midfielder Brianna Young of Trinity scored the Tigers’ only Berkeley Mengwasser, Southwestern goal in a 2-1 loss at Southwestern on Saturday afternoon, putting the Tigers in a three-way tie for second place in the SCAC standings. Young’s goal was the 23rd of her career and puts her in the Week 7 Becca Clarin, Rhodes team lead with seven goals this season. Young also leads Trinity with 18 total points, tying for Week 8 Kaitlin Elledge, Austin College second with four assists this season. RESULTS LIZZIE WRIGHT OF , a senior defender from Needham, Games of October 27 – November 2 Mass., has been named the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 27 through Sunday, November 2. Wednesday, October 29 Rose-Hulman 3, DePauw 2 Wright helped lead the Lynx to their 10th and 11th shutout victories of the season Friday, October 31 with wins over University of Dallas (2-0) and Austin College (3-0). Against Dallas on AUSTIN 3, HENDRIX 0 Friday, the Lynx did not allow a single legitimate shot and against Austin, not only BIRMINGHAM SOUTHERN 3, SEWANEE 1 did Wright help keep the Roos off the scoreboard, she ripped a left footed shot MILLSAPS 1, OGLETHORPE 0 past the Austin keeper from 30 yards out to notch the Lynx’ third goal of the game. #17 Rhodes 2, Univ. of Dallas 0 Wright and the Lynx defense have allowed only three goals in conference play and have shut out seven of their eight SCAC opponents this season. Saturday, November 1 SOUTHWESTERN 2, TRINITY 1 Wheaton (Ill.) College 7, DePauw 2 Other outstanding performances in the SCAC: Senior defender Kate Anderson of Centre had another solid performance in Sunday’s game against Maryville (Tenn.) College. Anderson’s leadership on defense helped Centre hold Maryville to only one shot Sunday, November 2 during the match. With her performance, the Colonels moved on to a 10-5-1 overall record and earned their BIRMNGHAM-SOUTHERN 4, OGLETHORPE 1 fifth shut-out of the year. Sophomore defender Madi Stachura of Southwestern played 90 minutes in the SEWANEE 3, MILLSAPS 0 backfield this weekend, helping lead the Pirate defense to a 2-1 win by allowing Trinity only three shots on #17 RHODES 3, AUSTIN 0 goal for the first half of play and holding the Tigers to none in the second. Stachura played the entire game Centre 1, Maryville (Tenn.) College 0 at center defender. With Stachura on the field, the Southwestern defensive denied all eight corner kicks Hendrix 1, Univ. of Dallas 0 taken by Trinity in the Pirates' come from behind 2-1 victory. Friday’s 3-1 match with Sewanee was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to gain much momentum. BSC had the one-goal lead at the half, but no one at the pitch thought that was a safe lead. The Tigers never let up

and it was not until deep in the second half that the Panthers got their third goal to seal

the victory. Sunday’s 4-1 game was steadier. Oglethorpe scored first, but the Panthers struck-back quickly and rattled off three more before time was called to ice the victory. Southern will close out the 2008 campaign on the road next weekend in Memphis on Friday and then in Conway, Arkansas on Sunday. They will take on the Rhodes Lynx at noon on Friday afternoon and then the Hendrix Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Centre defeated Maryville College 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Danville. As it was Senior Day, the event was made even more special when senior, Erin Menard, scored her 58th career goal – placing her in the top five for SCAC all-time leading goal scorers. Centre also earned their 5th shut-out of the year. Centre's final matches of the regular season will be this Friday and Sunday when they face Trinity and Southwestern at home.

DePauw held a 2-0 lead at Rose-Hulman on the strength of goals from Abby Gerwin and Kristen McMahon, but the Engineers' Molly Richardson scored a hat trick in a span of 8:05 for the win. DePauw outshout Rose-Hulman, 17-15, while the Engineers held a

6-5 edge in corners. Lauren Palfrey recorded two saves for the Tigers, while Christy

Fillenwarth had three. On Saturday, the Tigers fell behind quickly as host Wheaton scored three in the opening 3:10 and went to the intermission with a 6-0 lead. McMahon and Emelie Johansson delivered DePauw's two scores in the 7-2 loss to the defending Division III champions.

Hendrix College split a pair of road games this weekend. The Warriors lost an SCAC match-up against Austin College, 3-0, on Friday night and pulled out a 1-0 victory over University of Dallas on Sunday. Hendrix is now just one game back from .500 as they sit at 7-8 overall and 1-7 in conference action. On Friday, Austin struck early in the fifth minute and was held scoreless until late in the game when the Roos scored their final two goals in the 76th and 84th minute. The Warriors tallied 10 shots and four on-goal, compared to Austin’s 19 shots and eight on-goal. Hendrix junior forward Kate Burnett’s second goal of the season proved to be the game-winner at University of Dallas on Sunday. Burnett put the Warriors on top, 1-0, with an unassisted goal during the 55th minute. The Hendrix defense posted its fifth shutout with the win as they allowed the

Lady Crusaders just four shots and two on-goal. Burnett tallied four shots on the day,

while senior forward Michelle Story led the team with seven shots and five on-goal. Junior Abby Blaney narrowly missed a goal as she hit the post on one of her two shots on-goal. The Warriors outshot the Lady Crusaders 19-4 and won the corner kick battle, 12-3.

Sewanee rallied on Sunday with a 3-0 shutout if Millsaps after falling to Birmingham- Southern 3-1 on Friday night. Sewanee senior Audrey Jernigan scored a goal in each contest and Virginia Zakas got both starts in goal. Sewanee is now 9-5-1 and is 5-3 in the league. The Tigers will face Dallas and Austin College on the Mountain next weekend to close out the 2008 season.

Southwestern took down the Trinity Tigers on Saturday, their first win against the team since 2005. While Trinity quickly took the lead in the 12th minute, freshman forward Maria Pollifrone struck back with two goals in four minutes' time to give the Pirates an edge, both thanks to assists from Danielle Madison. The win places the Bucs in a three-way tie for second in the conference.

Trinity lost just its second SCAC game of the season on Saturday afternoon, losing 2-1 at Southwestern University.
