Wilson Hits Paydirt Again ... and Again -- RB Darius Wilson (Sr., Houston) had another big game for the Cru, catching six passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns and adding 84 rushing yards on 24 totes. He now has six total touchdowns on the year and he leads UMHB in rushing and receiving. Wilson has 249 rushing yards and three scores on 36 carries and 10 recep- tions for 116 yards and three more scores. Wilson also continues to climb the UMHB career rushing charts. He pushed his career total to 2,011 yards on Sat- urday and became just the seventh player in school history to reach 2,000 yards in career rushing. Kevin Mitchell is in sixth place all-time with 2,152 yards. Wilson is also in sole possession of seventh place on the career rushing TD list, with 24. Bai- ley’s still active total of 34 rushing TD’s is good for sixth place. Wilson also moved into the top ten on the Cru’s career rush- ing attempt list by moving his total to 353. He is tied with current UMHB offensive coordinator Jeff Shinn for ninth place.

Bailey’s Effi cient Opener -- QB LiDarral Bailey (Sr., Bremond) was voted ASC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year this season and has certainly lived up to that billing through the fi rst two games of the year. He has competed 36-50 passes for 331 yards and four touchdowns and has 64 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. Bailey also now has a 22-3 all-time record as the Cru’s starting quarterback with his only losses coming to Mississippi College (2009 regular season) and Wesley College (2010 NCAA Quarterfi nals and 2011 NCAA Quarterfi nals). He kept several plays and drives alive with his athletic ability and decision-making. Bailey is also climbing the UMHB career rushing and passing charts. He has 2,611 yards rushing and sits in fi fth place on the Cru career list, 326 yards behind the fourth place total of 2,937 yards posted by Freddie Rollins. Bailey’s 34 rushing TD’s put him for sixth place all-time, just one behind Chad Starnes’ fi fth-place total of 35. Bailey is also third all- time with the Cru in passing yardage at 4,401. He trails only second place Josh Welch (4,914 yards) and all-time leader Cody Fredenburg (5,032 yards). Bailey has 41 career TD tosses and passed Fredenburg’s total of 40 to take over second place. Welch holds the all-time UMHB record with 56 career touchdown tosses.

Jones Keeps Piling Up The Numbers -- LB Javicz Jones (Sr., Katy) recorded a team-high eight tackles in the win over Wesley and now has a team-best 14 stops on the season. Jones extended his own UMHB career tackle record to 346 stops and he moves to within 57 tackles of tying Hardin-Simmons linebacker Jared Sanderson’s American Southwest Conference career record of 403 tackles. Jones now has 35.5 career tackles for loss and holds sole possession of sixth place on that UMHB chart. Jones is a half-tackle for loss away from tying Elex Reed for fi fth place at 36.0. Preston Meyer holds the UMHB and ASC career record with 61.0 tackles for loss.

On The Road Again -- The Cru is right in the middle of the fi rst three-game, regular season road trip in program history with Saturday’s game at Wesley. A road trip to suddenly resurgent Sul Ross State University for the ASC opener lurks after the trip to San Antonio. The Cru opened this road swing with last Saturday’s contest at 3rd-ranked Wesley College in Dover, Dela- ware. UMHB did play fi ve consecutive road games during the 2004 run to the Stagg Bowl to mark the longest stretch of road games in school history. The Cru is 63-21 all-time away from Tiger Field. Six of UMHB’s last seven regular season losses came in road games with the Cru dropping contests at Mississippi College (2009), Southern Oregon (2008), Wisconsin- Whitewater (2007), Christopher Newport (2006) and Howard Payne University (2005). The only home regular season loss during that stretch was a 7-3 defeat at the hands of Wisconsin-Whitewater during the 2006 campaign.

They Call Them The Streaks -- The UMHB football team will put several active winning streaks on the line in Saturday’s game. The Cru has won 26 consecutive regular season games, dating back to a 17-14 loss to Mississippi College on October 17, 2009. UMHB has won eight straight regular season non-conference games. That streak dates back to the Cru’s 40-28 loss at Southern Oregon University during the 2008 season. UMHB also has a 19-game American Southwest Conference winning streak, dating back to that 2009 loss to MC and the Cru has won 52 of its last 53 ASC games overall. That streak will remain active heading into UMHB’s conference opener at Sul Ross State University on September 29th.

ASC Affi liate? -- Trinity University is playing a much more varied schedule with the break-up of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. As a result, the Tigers are facing off with an American Southwest Conference opponent for the fourth straight week. Trinity has already played Texas Lutheran University, Howard Payne University and Sul Ross State University before tangling with UMHB this weekend. The Tigers will close out their regular season against former ASC member Austin College, meaning Trinity University will play half of its 2012 regular season schedule against current or former ASC pro- grams.
