Show / Showmanship: Monday, 8:00 Am County Bred Class: Following Market Judging Department 10 - 4-H & Vocational Department 10 - SWINE Superintendent – MIKE NIEBAUER RULES Exhibitors must abide by the Department of Agriculture’s Health Requirements which may be found at the SWINE beginning of the Livestock Department, along with General Rules and Regulations for all Exhibitors. 1. Exhibitors must have the animals tagged and registered with the proper identification. Registration forms complete with ear tag number are due to the Fair Office by July 15TH (4:00 pm) preceding the fair. Late registrations will not be accepted. 2. Swine must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) completed within 14 days of check-in. 3. RFID registration is required this year. Animals without RFID information registered with fair office by 5 pm August 27th will be denied entry into the barn. Exhibitors are to email [email protected] with this information if not provided on the entry form. 4. Registration is $5.00 per head. New for 2021 5. All Market Swine must be born on or after January 1st of the current year, be owned and in your possession by June 1st. Each exhibitor may enter two Market Swine and all animals must be sold during the Youth Livestock Sale. 6. If you wish to show in the County Bred market class, you are required to fill out the registration form in its entirety. A breeder signature is required either on the registration form or on a signed copy of a sales receipt. Sales receipt must describe the animal as a “Cambria County Bred Market Swine” and have a tag number as a reference. A “Cambria County Bred Market Swine” must meet all the County Bred requirements. The requirements are: the animal must be born from a female that is owned by a Cambria County resident that has taken the responsibility to breed the female and for that female to bear offspring while in their possession in Cambria County and that offspring be raised in Cambria County. Cambria County Breeder signature, address, phone number are required, e-mail is optional.. 7. Market Swine can be barrows and/or gilts, with a minimum weight of 220 pounds; maximum weight 290 pounds. Swine over or under-weight will be considered terminal at weigh-in. Exhibitors will be compensated current market price. 8. During the Market Swine Show only the exhibitor is permitted in the catch pen. 9. Purebred Market Swine are required to have a Certificate of Registry to show in Purebred class. If no registration is presented to the Fair Office by Augustst 1 , swine will be entered in Crossbred division. 10. Purebred Classes Only – If there are fewer than 3 animals registered in a class they will show in the class labeled as “Other Purebred”. 11. Show Regulation – Hair Length: clipping of hair is allowed, however if clipped, it is recommended to leave 1/2 inch of hair on the body. 12. PA Pork Check-Off will deduct an additional .4% off all Swine sold. When Amir Mansour and Epifanio Mendoza square off for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental Heavyweight title on Saturday December 2 at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware, it is one of those fights where the spectators better keep their eyes open at all times. It is almost a certainty that somebody is going to get knocked out! Southpaw-banger Mansour, 15-0 (11), has created quite a buzz recently and is widely considered one of the most exiting heavyweights around, but at age 39 time is not on his side. Nicknamed “Hardcore”, he turned professional in 1997 and compiled nine straight victories before being incarcerated for eight-and-a- half years between 2001 and 2010. But while he spend all those years in prison, Mansour never stopped training, and eventually he walked out the prison gates in the same excellent shape as when he walked in. One of the first things he did as a free man was return to a real boxing gym. In August 2010 he began his amazing comeback, and has since delivered one highlight-reel knockout after another. This past August he was taken the distance for the first time since he returned, when perennial contender Dominick Guinn managed to go ten rounds. Before that Mansour had destroyed five opponents in a row.     Golden Gloves Champions to World Champion? While many of the top stars in Boxing enjoyed a successful amateur career winning various honours it’s not always integril to their development. It also doesn’t gaurentee success in the pro’s. The two sports after all are very different. There’s no exact formula to enjoying success in both sports. In America & Britain fighters tend to go from the amateur’s to pro’s without the same sort of grounding that they get if they were from Cuba, Russia or another Eastern Block country. This isn’t nessessarily a bad thing as a punishing schedule can mean that a guy leaves the best years in the unpaid ranks. However it can also provide him with the chance to hone his skills further and give him much more experience. At the end of the day it’s a fine balancing act. We start off our closer look into some of the most prestigious amateur tournements with the National Golden Gloves. Super Heavyweight – Over 201 – Only came into existance in 1982 since then no fighter has successfully won this title and gone on to fight for the Heavyweight title much less win one. Larry Donald probably holds the distinction of being the best fighter of the past winners who went on to have a decent pro career. Heavyweight – 201 – Is one of the original division’s which debuted way back in 1962. Four fighters have won both the National Golden Gloves & later World title. Michael Dokes became the first in 1976 he later won the WBA Heavyweight crown when he briefly reigned from 1982-83.
