If you are interested in the possibilities that gimmicked envelopes can provide, then this E-Book is a perfect starting place. It gives construction details of 9 different individual gimmicked envelopes with loads of routines using them, plus there is a whole range of further effects in- cluded in which regular envelopes play an important yet unobtrusive part. Magic Roadshow June 25, 2008 Issue# 91 Rick Carruth / editor (C) 2008 All rights reserved worldwide Street Magic's #1 free newsletter for magicians, street performers, restaurant workers, close-up artists, and mentalists, with subscribers in over seventy countries worldwide. _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Hi All Welcome to another issue of the Magic Roadshow. If this is your first visit I want to take a moment to 'Thank You' for signing up. I hope you find something in every issue to improve your performance and make you a better magician, street magic performer, mentalist, or whatever you specialty.. Take a look to your left and you should see a little 'vote' box. Voting let's me know your favorite type of magic to -perform-, and I will try to offer something special for performers of that type of magic. It helps me select content for the Roadshow. I've learned that I can't depend on my idea of what's most popular among Roadshow readers. Just when I THINK I know, I'm proven wrong. That's why good marketers always test, test, and then test some more. You can't trust your instinct when it comes to the public's likes and dislikes.. Remember, if you have any Comments, Complaints, Rants or Raves.. EMAIL ME I don't ask you guys for much, but I would like for you to go to Martins Magic 'Top 100 Magic Websites' and vote for StreetMagic.info.

  • Part 3:Prestidigitation
Introduce the topic and access prior knowledge with a short video about magicians and magic such as Bye, Bye, Bunny http://vimeo.com/69228454, also at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY6edSH6Lpg. As always, it is highly recommended that all instructors view any and all video clips prior to showing them to your students to make sure they are appropriate for your class members. Towards the middle of the 19th century (1850s) in England, Charles Morton opened the first Music Hall where patrons paid specifically in order to see a show. Until then Music Halls had been simple cafes where people would pay for a drink and perhaps see a performance. Morton changed everything by building the paid-admission Canturbury Music Hall. His immediate success gave rise to what would later become known as Vaudevill, or the variety show circuit. Before long, there were countless variety theatres throughout England and the US and all over the world for that matter. Vaudeville offered many opportunities to magicians with simple acts (without large illusions) for the next 100 years, until television came along, threatening the extinction of live entertainment altogether. From 1756 to 1781, Jacob Philadelphia performed feats of magic, sometimes under the guise of scientific exhibitions, throughout Europe and in Russia. Modern entertainment magic owes much to Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin (1805–1871), originally a clockmaker, who opened a magic theatre in Paris in the 1840s. His speciality was the construction of mechanical automata which appeared to move and act as if they were alive. The British performer J N Maskelyne and his partner Cooke established their own theatre, the Egyptian Hall in London's Piccadilly, in 1873.

Issues 38 through 50.. --------------------------- Best of Magic Roadshow III... ~::~::~::~::~::~::~::~::~::~ January 1st, 2006 Issue# 38 Rick Carruth / editor Copyright (c) 2006 ----------------------------------- Hello and Happy New Year! I'm sitting here watching the ball drop in Time Square as I write. I did have to take a couple of breaks to kiss the wife and go out on the back porch to watch the fireworks. South Carolina, as some of you travelers may know, is one of the few states that openly sells fireworks. When you combine fireworks, kids, and adults with alcohol, you can get quite a display. I like to watch from a distance... A serious 'Welcome' to all the new subscribers since last issue. I hope you find something to inspire your cause in every issue of Magic Roadshow. I try to publish a 'best of' issue twice a year, but it's been about ten months since the last. So, you're going to get a double-dose of resources. I'm sure some of you have visited all these sites, but if you're like me, there's at least a couple that you forgot about, and I hope you enjoy being reminded.. 'Best Of' is not really correct, as there are many worthy resources that were not included in this issue. I tried to select a good cross section of resources to cover most of the main categories of magic, and a number of equally good resources were left behind for you to find one day thru our archives.. Email Me and let me know what you think of this issue.
