2019-20 USTA Rule Changes - REVISED GENERAL TRAMPOLINE An out bounce for Advanced and Elite levels that travels forward or backward and stays inside the box or travels back into the box will not lose the 0.2 deduction for two steps. TR - The superior judge will be responsible for determining if a 0.3 pt. deduction should be taken by the aesthetic judges for overall lack of height during the routine. SUB-ADVANCED TRAMPOLINE Raise the Max Difficulty on Sub-Advance Trampoline from 4.6 to 4.8. ADVANCED TRAMPOLINE MINIMUM: Seven (7) Somis and 4.9 Difficulty. ELITE OPEN TRAMPOLINE In addition to meeting the required DD - an athlete must complete the required compulsory skills in order to advance to finals. GENERAL DOUBLE-MINI DM - The superior judge will be responsible for determining if a 0.3 pt. deduction should be taken by the aesthetic judges for tumbling across the double-mini. DM - Add gainer and inward somersaults to the list of illegal skills at all levels. A straight jump mount must make contact with the mount bed. Failure for not having both feet make contact with the mount bed will result in a termination. All other occurrences that both feet land totally in the red penalty zone would result in a 0.2 deduction. Double-mini scores must be within a 0.5 point range except for Advanced and up where the two middle scores must be within a 0.5 point range. ADVANCED DOUBLE-MINI Raise the Max Difficulty on Advanced DM from 7.2 to 7.8 Finals stay 4.8DD. AGE ELITE DOUBLE-MINI In addition to placing in the top ten, require Age Elite Athletes to meet the minimum DD to Advance to finals. Raise the Minimum Difficulty for Age Elite to 7.9. 2 ATHLETE ATTIRE Remove the 0.3 pt. Tattoo deduction. Trampoline Attire - Men. Allow Shorts (as defined in TU/DM) or Long Trampoline Pants. WARM-UPS TR - Change Advanced, Age-Elite and Elite Open finals warm ups to two 45 second turns. DM - Change the Advanced, Age Elite, and Elite Open warms ups to 6 passes for prelims and 4 passes for finals. EQUIPMENT A minimum of two additional mats: two minium mats of 5'x10'x8" are required at the end of each safety platform (end deck). Mats must be attached side by side to extend the range beyond the end deck. DMT - Equipment: Maximum run of 70' - Currently, there is no maximum listed. DMT - if using the mat for 6 and under the coach has the ability to turn mat perpendicular or parallel to the DMT to fit their preference in mounting. TR/DM GENERAL Remove references of "slide" and "sliding" when mentioning jumps, positions, and single somis. The rules will now state: To be included in the 0.1-0.8 skill deductions, for tuck, pike or straddle position (jumps & single somis)...0.1 - 0.2 pt 2.1.1 A touch with arms pressed down to sides fully 0.0 pt 2.1.2 A touch with arms not fully pressed down to sides 0.1 pt 2.1.3 A touch only 0.2 pt TU/TR/DM GENERAL - The following rule has been tabled to begin in the 2020-2021 competition season. Upon further review and discussion, the Technical Committee agrees that as currently written, it will not serve our athletes or our organization well. Rather than rush to determine a quick solution, we have formed a sub-committee to determine fair and equitable minimum difficulties for all three events in order to have the best functionality for our athletes. Adv/Age Elite National Qualification will remain as is until 2020-21. TABLED - To attend nationals all ADV/AGE ELITE athletes must hit a minimum difficulty of 0.1 higher than the previous level(s) maximum difficulty at any sanction meet prior to nationals in order to attend. TEAM TRIALS All Star Team members will be allowed to try-out for the Elite National Team which will allow them to be placed on BOTH national teams. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 3 For State Championships, in addition to submitting a list of judges to the USTA Board for approval, all state meet directors must send their judge's assignments to USTA & NTJC Boards for approval. NATIONALS Change Advanced Overall Team Award to Age Elite Overall Team Award (Combination of all Age Elite Events). CLARIFICATIONS: Change the Name of Levels back to: Age Elite and Elite Open. Coaching in any capacity to indicate the required number of bounces needed to initiate a trampoline routine will be considered a coaching deduction 0.3 pts. Synchronized Trampoline. Our current rules say: Same sex synchronized pairs must wear identical (mirror image) competition attire (including design, style, cut, color, sleeve length, scrunchies [if worn], and sport bras [if worn and showing]. Failure to wear identical attire will result in each member of the synchronized pair receiving a 2.0 pt. aesthetic deduction per aesthetic judge upon the advice of the Superior Judge. NOTE: The only exception is footwear - there is no deduction if one of the athletes wears shoes and the other wears socks as long as the footwear meets proper dress requirements. Q. The question was regarding nail polish - does it have to be the same color and/or do both members of the pair need to be wearing it if one of the pair is? A. The Technical Committee has voted no, nail polish does not have to be identical (mirror image). ATTIRE - WOMEN: There IS a minimum of one (1) inch strap requirement for a legal leotard... 2.0 pt deduction per pass. ATTIRE - MEN: Appropriate undergarments must be worn. Undergarments that show MUST match the color of the shorts. Deduction 0.3 per pass. Appropriate undergarments include briefs or skin tight boxer briefs that do not extend past the length of the competition shorts. Inappropriate undergarments include boxers, loose boxer briefs, any shorts that are loose or baggy, or anything that extends past the length of the competition shorts. .
