While that aspect of it can grate at times, given its rather ham-fisted and obvious parodying of the secretive and mystical nature of real- world religious institutions, the secondary characters belonging to the order are well acted. The resonance reaches a critical point as the Prince and Snabb arrive. For December 2012 this stand-alone story is "1001 Nights" - a Fifth Doctor and Nyssa story starring Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton. "1001 Nights" has been written by: Emma Beeby and Gordon Rennie, Jonathan Barnes and Catherine Harvey. It has been directed by Barnaby Edwards and was recorded on the 7th and 8th August 2012. Joining Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton are: Alexander Siddig, Nadim Sawalha, Malcolm Tierney, Teddy Kempner, Kim Ismay, Debbie Leigh- Simmons, Christopher Luscombe and Oliver Coopersmith. Sylvester McCoy. It has been commented that this story’s lack of ties to other adventures is one of its strengths. As revealed by Barnaby Edwards ‘ The good thing about "1001 Nights" is that you don't need to know any continuity. You don't need to own any other Doctor Who audio stories for it to work - its great strength is that it's not part of a trilogy. It works incredibly well in its own right, and effectively because it's four stories all rolled into one, it's a quartet of new Fifth Doctor and Nyssa stories in one package. Very good value for money! ’.

Only a few years from now, a squad of UNIT troops is escorting a nuclear missile through the English countryside. At the nearby archaeological dig, knights in armour are fighting battles with broadswords – and guns and grenades. The Doctor arrives on the scene and meets two old friends: Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, called out of retirement to help in the emergency, and Bessie the souped-up roadster. Ace escapes from death by drowning in a submerged spaceship, only to find herself at the mercy of a demon known as the Destroyer. The action is fast and furious, as expected in a script by Ben Aaronovitch, who wrote the classic Remembrance of the Daleks. And why do the knights address the Doctor as ‘Merlin’? What is the power of the sword that Ace retrieves from the bottom of the lake? Will Morgaine carry out her threat to destroy the world? Embrace the Darkness is a Big Finish Productions audio drama based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who . Contents. The Doctor and Charley encounter an ancient race in the Cimmerian System, whose return could prove apocalyptic. But as the Darkness envelops the station the Doctor learns that their seemingly evil acts might be more than they appear. The Doctor — Paul McGann — India Fisher Ferras — Lee Moone Haliard — Mark McDonnell Orllesnsa — Nicola Boyce ROSM — Ian Brooker. Trivia. The name of the robotic control system, ROSM, is clearly an homage to the title character Rossum in R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), a Czech play from 1921, which first introduced the word 'robot' to the general lexicon. In episode 2, the Doctor quotes from Romeo and Juliet ("jocund day stands tiptoe"). This foreshadows the Shakespeare theme of the next play, The Time of the Daleks . External links.
