THE BAR CONVENT

The Bar Convent, England's oldest living convent, was founded in 1686 as a school for girls and is still home to members of the Congregation of Jesus today. The Grade 1 Listed eighteenth-century buildings house a state-of-the-art exhibition, an award- winning Cafe and highly-rated Guest House, plus newly refurbished conference facilities. The Bar Convent welcomes those of all faiths and none.

BISHOPTHORPE PALACE Bishopthorpe Palace has been the home of the Archbishops of York for over 750 years. Today Bishopthorpe Palace operates as a multi- functional premises, as the Archbishop's home and office of the Northern Province, the palace and its grounds are also used for charity open days, retreats, evening receptions, village fetes, and dinners.
