Wildlife is truly great in the zone. There are foxes, hares, wild boars, deer, wolves, moose, and herds of Przewalski horses and other species. You should keep your eyes open and look around on your way from the checkpoint to the town of Chernobyl. Stop in the village of Zalissya with almost 700 abandoned houses (uninhabited) Discover the town of Chernobyl – the busiest part of the zone nowadays. Almost 5000 people work and live there in shifts. The Golden Gate. It was erected by Yaroslav the Wise to be the gala entrance to the city. Nearby there is the monument dedicating to Yaroslav the Wise with model of Sophia Kyivska on his hand. Sophyivska square is the main square at the time of Yaroslav the Wise's ruling. The erection of Sophia Kyivska was the action to show the power of Kyivan Rus. The graves of Yaroslav the Wise and his wife Irina are located here. Sofiya Kyivska used to be a library. In 1990 Sophia was included into UNESCO's list of international heritage. Myhailovsky Cathedral was founded by Prince Svyatopolk (Myhayl). There had been the remains of holy Varvara, which were transferred to Vladymyrsky cloister after the destruction. During 1997-2000 Myhailovsky cathedral was rebuilt. Khreschatyk Street is the main street of Kiev. Independent square is situated nearby and is the place for repose and entertainment. Every weekend it converts into the pedestrian area. There is the underground trade mall "Globus" with lots of cozy cafes. Tour to Kyiv Pecherska Lavra Monastery Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is the most famous sight-seeing object in Kyiv, which has been included in UNESCO World Heritage Register. Monastery Complex has been wonderful ornamentation and fame of Pechersk for ages. It is the object of worship of all Orthodox world. Monastery Monks Antony and Feodosiy founded it in 1051. • 16.00- transfer to the train station • 16:30 – 23:44 Train to Odesa • 23:44 arrival to Odesa, meeting with the guide, transfer to the hotel • Overnight Breakfast at the hotel 10.00-13.00-Walking city tour From the ancient times, Odesa was inhabited by Scythians, Samrat's, Greeks, and Slavs. In the times of Kyiv Rus, it was a part of this huge Slavic state. In the 13th century it was annexed to the Tatar-Mongol empire, the “Golden Horde”. At the beginning of the 15th century, it was annexed to Lithuania, and in some 50 years, to Turkey. In 1791 the territory became a part of the Russian Empire. Today we enjoy a day city tour, including many architectural sites of 19th & 20th centuries, many of them designed by world famous architects and engineers. Most notable are the Opera House (resembling the Vienna Opera and the Dresden Court Theater) built in 1884-87; the Marine (Potyomkin) Stairway (1837-41) – one of the largest stairways in the world; and the heart of Odesa and immortalized in Sergei Eisensteins’s 1925 film, Battleship Potemkin; Deribasivska (Deribasovskaya) Street with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. We will visit the five-domed Uspensky Cathedral and drive out to the Shevchenko Park with its views of the Black Sea. Optional tour to Odesa Catacombs Odesa underground tunnels (catacombs) were created nearly 200 years ago during mining of building materials that were used to build the city. Currently it is the maze of 2,500 km of entrances, exits, caves, and tunnels. During the WWII campaigns, in 1941, when German and Romanian army occupied Odesa during the way, the Soviet Military headquarters gave the order to organize the partisan resistance. And Odesa catacombs were chosen as the camp for the unit of partisans. The provisions and weapons were enough there so the unit could stay underground for half a year. The partisan unit was fighting against the Nazi and Romanian army during the entire period of occupation. It is the biggest fortress in the country, and a unique monument to the defensive architecture of the 13th -15th centuries.
