Job Description: Associate Rector / Pastor
Overview: Holy Trinity Church is an Anglican church plant that seeks to express God’s redemptive love for others through the great tradition of Scripture, Spirit and Sacrament to the people and culture of Silicon Valley and beyond. We are in our second year as a vibrant, growing, intergenerational, ethnically- diverse community of disciples inviting everyone to discover life in Christ. We are searching for a well- qualified candidate to join our pastoral team as an Associate Rector or Associate Pastor or and help us grow from a church plant into a fully developed parish. The Position: The Associate Rector / Pastor works in close partnership with the Rector to execute the vision and assist in overseeing and facilitating the ministry of Holy Trinity Church. The Associate Rector / Pastor is a trusted and dependable collaborator bringing synergy to the work of ministry, particularly in their ability to connect with and minister in an intergenerational community. The Associate Rector position exists in part to share in the care for the day-to-day ministry of the church but also has specific responsibility for building outreach and spiritual formation efforts for the younger generations.
Primary Responsibilities: * Envisioning and developing ministries to enhance our outreach efforts and congregational care in an intergenerational context * Participate in the discipleship and development of lay ministry leaders and small group leaders * Assisting with liturgy, Holy Communion, and serving as part of the pastoral/sacramental team in public worship * Contribute wisdom, insights, strategic thinking, heart and effort as a key part of the leadership team * Occasional teaching and preaching * Congregational Care: addressing needs, pastoral care, and discipleship
Details: * Starting Part Time in the spring / summer of 2021. We anticipate this position growing to Full Time as Holy Trinity grows. * Compensation: we have developed a solid package of salary and some stipend for continuing education, ministry resources (books, etc.) and technology. It is likely that the higher cost of living in the Silicon Valley will require the candidate to find additional part-time employment and/or arrange outside financial support.
The Candidate We’re Seeking: The candidate we’re seeking has a love for Jesus and His mission, a corresponding spiritually entrepreneurial spirit and experience. He is excited by the spiritual challenge and opportunity of living and serving in the post-Christian, tech-oriented environment of Silicon Valley. His spiritual life, practice and experience are rooted in the “three streams” (Scripture, Spirit and Sacrament) expression of the Anglican tradition. The candidate is culturally aware, but (more importantly) deeply grounded in the Christian Tradition and the Word of God. He is completely aligned with Holy Trinity’s mission, and liturgical and cultural ethos. The candidate is confident yet humble, a good communicator, emotionally-connective with high EQ allowing him to work well and collaborate as part of a team.
Qualifications: * 3-5+ years proven experience as a priest, pastor or transitional deacon * Master of Divinity or higher degree * Ordained as a transitional Deacon or Priest in the Anglican Church in North America, or eligible for transfer into the ACNA * Theologically / missionally aligned with Holy Trinity Church; spiritually and emotionally mature * A proven teacher / connector / small group leader
