AND WE’RE BACK

“Football’s finally back then and it’s new surroundings this season as we’re a part of the inaugural JD Cymru North season. We’re hosting newly promoted side Corwen this afternoon, in what I’m sure we all hope will be the start of a positive season following the disappointment of last year.

Once again, it’s a new look squad with only captain Danny Hughes and goalkeeper Shaun Pearson who remain from the end of last season’s squad, along with Matty Jones coming in to lead the lads. Matty has been confident throughout pre-season and has looked to have set up a good group of lads who will be willing to work hard for the club and we’ll hopefully have a lot more to shout about this season.

We’ve got a mix of experience with the likes of Danny, Shaun and Lee Thomas in the squad, along with a good crop of local young lads who will give their all for the club.

With our first three league games being at Maesdu Park, we have a really good opportunity to gather some momentum this month and then hopefully build on that in the coming months, and let’s hope we can start off with a win this afternoon. Enjoy the game!”

Proud Supporters of Llandudno FC LLANDUDNO FC A BRIEF HISTORY OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

Football in Llandudno dates back to 1878 when a club, probably known as Gloddaeth Rovers was in existence for around a decade. The club was formed for the purpose of providing activity for cricketers during their close season. SA full international Wales v Ireland was played on the “council field” in 1988.

Llandudno were founder members of the Welsh National League (North) in 1921 and were champions in 1923 and League Cup winners in 1930. The club won the N.W.C.F.A in 1926 and the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1929. Controversy struck the club in 1931 when the F.A.W instructed them to play East Wales, which Llandudno refused and were suspended.

Llandudno were also founder members of the Welsh League (North) in 1935 and remained in the league until war broke out in 1939 and then re-joined in 1945 up until 1974. Llandudno were league champions in 1936 and repeated the feat the following season, in addition the club regained the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1948 and 1962, the Alves Cup in 1951 and the Cookson Cup in 1965.

The club moved to its current home at Maesdu Park in 1991 after the “council field” was used for the construction of the ASDA store in the late 1970’s, now the new Parc MBi Maesdu. The current ground was officially opened in 1991 and floodlights were added in 1994. The following season saw the erection of a clubhouse and two small stands which provides covered seating for 130 spectators.

The club has then went under major transitions, with the addition of a new press box, built by local lad Cyril “Ciz” Williams who tragically died while construction was ongoing, and it is surely a testament that such a great number of friends were determined to finish his work and the building stands as a fitting memorial to this wonderful man. In the 2004/05 season the current dressing rooms were built, and the grandstands with disabled access. In the 2014/15 season major developments continued with the addition of a brand new entrance foyer, fitted with an educational suite, and a state of the art 3G pitch alongside the introduction of a thriving community arm, and for the first time in the clubs history Llandudno Football Club earned promotion into the Welsh .

The club then reached an agreement with sportswear giants Adidas to be their official kitwear supplier until at least 2017, along with major kit sponsors from W.R. Davies Renault and the UPVC Outlet. The good news didn’t stop there as more redevelopments took place around the ground with the introduc- tion of a brand new TV gantry and 75 seater stand.

At the end of the 2015/16 season, and in Llandudno’s debut year in the top tier of Welsh football, we gained automatic promotion to the Europa League after a third placed finish. Llandudno had earned themselves a tie against two time European Cup Winners IFK Goteborg in the first qualifying round, on- ly to be outmuscled 7-1 on aggregate, with Danny Hughes the name in history scoring for his hometown club. An experience the club and the town were extremely proud of, and one that will never be forgotten as we look to replicate it year upon year.

All this wouldn’t be possible without the support and the dedication from our tirelessly working volun- teers, and so here you find us as one club, one community. LLFC PLAYER SPONSORSHIPS 2019/20

WELCOME

“Good afternoon and welcome to Maesdu Park for this, our first league game and first home game of the newly branded JD Cymru North league.

It has been a very busy off season and pre season and the squad, management team and everyone behind the scenes is excited to now get going. The playing and management teams have both been totally revamp and rebuilt over the summer, with myself being appointed in May after the club suffered relegation from the WPL. My main role has been to recruit a management team, a playing team and to work on bringing a feel good factor back to the club. The most effective way for us to do that is to win games of football in an entertaining and exciting way that pleases and engages you, the fans. From last years squad I was delighted to retain the services of long serving captain Danny Hughes as well as ex- perienced goalkeeper Shaun Pearson, retaining these two players was a huge early boost. Joining these two will be some familiar faces to the Llandudno faithful including, Lee Thomas, Dean Seeger, Ant Mar- shall, Bry Roberts and Robbie Parry. These players are joined by a number of players that I have worked with before and who you will come to know and enjoy watching as the season progresses. I’d also like to introduce first team oath Stu Howson who joins the back room team from the academy, Dave Guinn who continues as goalkeeper coach, Rob Jones who comes in as first team coach and match day physio and Sian Bethel who will be our head of medicine and treatment.

I would also like to mention and thank a number of the clubs volunteers that have been extremely helpful and supportive since my appointment. Richard, the chairman has been extremely supportive on a number of issues and helping to ensure the football side can run as smoothly as possible. Victor has been a rock as club secretary and the support received from others such as Grant, Geraint, Neil, Rob, Sam, Gerald and everyone else has been fantastic for us as a group.

Our competitive games started last week with a late defeat to Guilsfield in the cup. I felt we played very well in most parts of the game and just fell short in what was a very tight and well contested game. This game followed on from a tough but very productive pre season program that has prepared us well for this coming season.

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome our visitors today, Corwen. Corwen were promoted last year from the Welsh National League and will come into this campaign with momentum having kept most of their promoted side. We know that this is going to be a tough game against resilient opposi- tion so we must ensure we are at our very best to come away with maximum points.

I would like to thank you in advance for your tremendous support, it is a privilege and an honour for me to managing this football club and I aim to create a club environment that we can all be proud of, and the key to that is that we are all together, pulling in the same direction and loving what we do.”

GUILSFIELD vs LLANDUDNO Nathaniel MG Cup Second Round Saturday, 10th of August, 2019 Clos Mytton, Guilsfield

RESULT: GUILSFIELD 1 - 0 LLANDUDNO

Llandudno out of the Nathaniel MG Cup following Guislfield late winner.

Our first competitive game of the season ended in late disappoitment following a tight game over in Guilsfield. It was a windy affair for the first game of the season and both teams were finding it difficult to create a lot of chances.

Matty Jones was without players such as Robbie Parry, Jacob Farleigh, Gerwyn Jones and Alfons Fosu- Mensah through injury, as well as Scott McHarrie who was suspended.

Llandudno started to grow into the game the quickest in tough conditions with Dean Seager having our best chance of the half, but could only find the side netting.

Guisfield has an opportunity of their own when a defensive error lead to Shaun Pearson making a won- derful triple save to keep the scoreline level at the break.

The second half began with the conditions remaining the same, but captain Danny Hughes had a bril- liant chance to put us ahead but it was brilliantly tipped over the bar by the Guilsfield number one.

Anthony Marshall went close from the resulting corner, and in what looked like it would have been the away side the most likely to steal a winner, Llandudno were caught napping from a long throw in just a few minutes before the final whistle and Adam Jenkins got the winner for Guilsfield.

Llandudno are now out of the Nathaniel MG Cup, but all focus now must turn to the JD Cymru North, with the league opener against Corwen at Maesdu Park just a week away.

There was a big positive when academy graduate Alex Roberts came on in the second half to make his debut, eight years af- ter joining the club's youth system.

CORWEN FC

The earliest mention of football in Corwen is their entry into the inaugural in 1877. After beating neighbours Bala 1-0 after a reply they lost heavily to Bangor. Corwen's recent revival started as early as 1966 in the wake of England's World Cup success when a new committee was formed. Success was soon to follow gaining promotion to the 1st Division from the 3rd Division in 2 seasons of the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area). This progress however did not continue however due to the retirement of players and others moving on to other clubs. In 1986/87 things improved again and with- in two seasons they were in the reformed Premier division, winning the Division 2 League and cup dou- ble in 86/87 and the Division 1 League in 87/88. In 94/95 and again in 97/98 they finished runners up in the League but season 98/99 they at last managed to win the championship. Promotion to the proved too testing for the team so they returned to the Welsh National Premier Division the following season.

The start of the 2013/14 season saw another managerial change, as John stepped down to be replaced by Steve Crompton. Steve was on the Bala Town FC coaching staff that guided the side to the Welsh Premier, but he stepped down to take over at Cymru Alliance side Ruthin Town. Steve is a former pro- fessional footballer, with spells at Wolves, Hereford United, Worcester City and Runcorn. Steve stepped down at the end of the 2016/17 season after leading Corwen to a 4th placed league finish, as well as the Welsh Trophy Quarter Final and the Third Round of the Welsh Cup to be replaced by former Bala Town player Danny Jellicoe. Danny, assisted by former Rhyl, Swansea and Bangor City player Tommy Mutton, led Corwen to a 3rd placed league finish, the club’s highest since winning the Welsh National League Premier Division title in the 1998/99 season. In 2018/19 the team went one better, finishing sec- ond, a point behind FC Queens Park, but with Queens Park not applying for promotion Corwen gained the consolation prize of promotion to Tier Two of Welsh football and became inaugural members of the JD Cymru League North. FOOTBALL’S BACK

“Finally football is back!

Welcome everyone to the first game of the season, as a group we can't wait to finally get started and no better way to get going than at home. After the disappointment of everything that went on last year it'll be good to have a fresh start in what will be a highly competitive league. Plenty of local derbies along the way to hopefully get fans back through the gates and enjoying the football once again.

Pre seasons been a good one for getting to know everyone on and off the field. It's another new squad so hopefully we can all gel from the off. Matty's been really good during pre season and has bought in some quality players to the club who all want the same thing. We've had some good competitive games and have learnt a lot as a squad, good and bad. Now to take it into the new season starting with newly promoted Corwen FC.

Thanks to everyone for coming and hopefully this is the first of many visits throughout the season.

Keep The Faith!”

LLANDUDNO EAGERLY AWAIT SEASON OPENER

Llanduno will face Corwen this weekend for the opening day of the inaugural season of the JD Cymru North.

After a disappointing relegation from the JD last season, the club will hope to bounce back this season in what will follow a Summer of a complete rebuild yet again.

The competitive season started last week and it was late disappointment in the Nathaniel MG Cup as Guilsfield scored late on to win the game and go through to the next round.

Corwen will provide a different task for the fist game of the league season, but will be no easy feat, and as the manager has said many times during pre-season, there will be no easy games in this division.

Three home games against Corwen, Gresford Athletic and Rhyl kick off the league season before an eagerly anticipated trip to Colwyn Bay.

Corwen were promoted from Tier 3 last season, and have played two competitive games already this season, winning in the first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup against Berriew, before losing to Cymru Premier side Caernarfon Town in the second.

Robbie Parry, Gerwyn Jones, Alfons Fosu-Mensah and Jacob Farleigh all missed out on last Saturday’s fixture due to injury, as well as Scott McHarrie who was suspended from the previous season.

LLANDUDNO FC MANAGER QUOTES OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

QUOTES FROM THE MANAGER AHEAD OF THE GAME

On Nathaniel MG Cup exit:

“Overall, I felt that we did well last weekend. We looked organised defensively and in our build up play which was actually very pleasing to see.

We lacked a little bit of cutting edge in the final third and its goals that win you games so that’s some- thing we need to work on.

We are still a new group but these things will take time for us to get right but we are certainly on the right path.”

On the injured players:

“Robbie has a hamstring injury so we will have to monitor that carefully and not rush, we will continue to monitor Jacob this week and Gerwyn has a long term injury that we have to work with. Scott is still suspended. Bryan Roberts will be unavailable for the game this weekend so the depth of the squad will be tested, but that’s the benefit of having a squad and I believe in the players that we have got.”

On Corwen’s challenge:

“They aren’t an unknown quantity to me because I’m very familiar with their players and management team, but what they do have is momentum having gained promotion last year, continuity in terms of their squad and an excellent team spirit. We will have to be prepared for everything they have to throw at us.” LLANDUDNO FC CHAIRMAN’S COLUMN OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME HELLO AND WELCOME

Hello and welcome to the 2019/20 season. I'd like to extend a warm welcome to our new Manager, Matty Jones, and to thank him for assembling what looks like a very strong squad for the upcoming campaign. I'm also pleased to welcome all the players, who will be wearing the "black and white" this season. It’s great to see some lads back at the club, including some who came through our Academy, and some who have returned "home". Plus it’s great to have Danny leading the charge again, and Shaun Peo be- tween the sticks. We have seen some really encour- aging signs during the pre season friendlies, includ- ing Krusty's thunderbolt volley against Stafford Rang- ers the week before last. Good luck and best wishes also go to our Ladies Team who are still representing us in the Welsh Premier League. Sarah and Geoff have got a strong squad going into the new season. They’ve won a couple of pre-season tournaments and are in good shape for their "kick off" in Septem- ber. Congratulations to JP on his new appointment, as James will be leading the Academy moving for- ward, and we look forward to seeing it grow from strength to strength. We want to follow all the FA Wales guidelines and directives, to ensure our kids get the best coaching possible. James will also be managing the U19's, a really important group. A big thank you goes out to all our sponsors and adver- tisers, old and new, your support is really appreciated. I'd like to express my gratitude to all of the club's volunteers, who literally keep the club running day to day, and week to week. Everything you do is in- valuable, from keeping the stadium running, the kit, the shop, our social media, to all the people who help us on matchdays. My fellow directors, and officers, whom are all volunteers, who also give up hours and hours to help with all of the above, will, I know, join me in expressing gratitude to every vol- unteer who gives up their time and energy to help to run this special Football Club. Last, but definitely not least, I'd like to thank our supporters, for previous seasons, and in anticipation of the campaign that we are just about to kick off.

Thanks to our Season Ticket holders, and for everyone who comes along to give the lads a shout. Please stand behind us, through thick and thin. If things go wrong that's when we need you the most, tell your friends and neighbours to come and watch a game, the more the merrier! We are hoping to play some good, positive and enjoyable football, as Matty has certainly built a team capable of that.

Thanks again, and if anyone would like to join our Volunteer Team, whatever time you can give, and whatever your skills might be, we will accept it gratefully! Just get in touch through the office, or come along to one of our Volunteer sessions (2-4pm every Thursday) and you'll be assured of a warm wel- come, a cup of tea… and more than likely a paintbrush! Thanks also to the "Crossbar" team, for your warm hospitality, and for providing great facilities and making us all welcome.

"Keep the Faith"… here's to a great season ahead.

AA CONSERVATORIES

AA Conservatories have once again agreed a sponsorship deal with Llandudno Football Club, having agreed to be our home and away shirt sponsors for the next two seasons.

The company provide their services in North Wales and Cheshire and can provide a high quality range of double-glazed windows, doors and conservatories.

Based in Mochdre, North Wales, AA Conservatories, windows and doors is very much a family run busi- ness. Run by husband and wife team, Neil and Karen, as well as Neil’s father who oversees installations, AA Conservatories prides itself on its personable services along with providing quality double-glazing.

This will be the 15th season that AA Conservatories will be sponsoring the football club and their con- tinued support that they show is a brilliant asset to the club. They were also our away kit sponsors last season.

We look forward to continuing the great relationship we have and seeing how our two kits will look like with their logo on the front.

General manager Sam Williams said, “We’re lucky to have someone like Neil on board with us here at the football club. We’ve not only benefited from his input around the table over the years, but we’ve been extremely fortunate with the labour and financial sponsorships Neil and AA Conservatories have contributed to our club in his time with us.”

“Without people like Neil there simply wouldn’t be any grassroot clubs around, and we can only look forward to hopefully many more years ahead.”

Company owner Neil Sheldon had this to say about sponsoring the football club once again. "Once again we are delighted to offer our support to this wonderful football club and nothing gives us more pride than seeing our name attached to Llandudno FC."

"t’s never easy in business as there are always financial pressures around every corner and after 15 years it would be easy to drop an expense such as this however we are firm believers that we don’t see sponsorship as advertising like so many do. We see it as putting back into the very community that al- lows us to survive as a business.

"With out local people buying our products our business doesn’t exist and without local sponsorship Llandudno FC doesn’t exist and that is unthinkable." LLANDUDNO FC CLUB NEWS OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

"Llandudno FC is such a community hub. It not only provides amazing facilities to the first team but it offers a life line to so many people of all ages. Without it, so many teams in the town wouldn’t have a place to play.

"We hope our small support allows the club to keep fighting. Our small sponsorship coupled with some other very generous businesses in the area hopefully will allow Matty to put a competitive team each week!"

"All that’s left for us to say is good luck for the season! #KeepTheFaith"

Once again we are delighted to have agreed this deal with Neil and AA Conservatories and are looking forward for the partnership to continue. PROUD TO SPONSOR

Speaking on behalf of the Supporters Club, we would like to wish our new manager Matty Jones and all the new players the best of luck throughout the season, we’ll be there supporting and hoping we can get one over our local rivals in a few derbies this season. August is an exciting month with us hosting Rhyl and of course travelling to Colwyn Bay will be a good one, with a lot of familiar faces there this season. But first it’s Corwen, and it’s really im- portant we get off to a good start but it won’t be an easy task for sure.

Enjoy the game!”
