Interstudies School Select Programme 2016/17 InterStudies School Select Programme 2016/17 Introduction The School Select Programme allows students to choose which school in either England or Ireland they would like to be placed in. Having decided on their programme country, students should select 3 schools from the InterStudies School Select list, in order of preference. Students will be placed (according to availability) in one of their selected choices from the school list. Although every care is taken in order to fulfil the student’s request, please note that schools may run out of places, particularly in case of a late application, so the choice cannot be guaranteed. In the unlikely event of all 3 schools requested being full, the student will be offered the choice of a different school from the above list or a place on the regular InterStudies programme. Included in the programme School placement Host family accommodation (full‐board) Optional accommodation during school holidays (excluding the summer break) local support 24 hour emergency line Airport pick‐up and drop‐off (at beginning and end of stay only) Orientation Meeting after arrival Progress reports Optional tours Students cannot take time off during school time, but will be allowed to return home during school holidays, providing they supply a signed Travel Release form in advance. Application Criteria Students must apply for a full academic year. Applicants must have strong academic ability –A grade results are expected, with the odd B being acceptable. Applicants must be aged 16 to 18 at the start of the academic year (1st September). They must also have a high level of English and demonstrate good health, mentally as well as physically. August 2020 Devices and 4G Wireless Routers Data Contents Introduction 3 Progress data 4 Definitions 8 Data Quality 9 Get technology support for disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people during the coronavirus (COVID-19) Introduction Laptops and tablets have been provided for disadvantaged and vulnerable families, children and young people who did not have access to them through another source, to enable access to remote education and social care services during the coronavirus (COVID-19). Laptops, tablets and 4G wireless routers were given to local authorities (LAs) and academy trusts (trusts), who will own the devices and distribute them to families, children and young people. LAs and trusts could receive digital devices for: • care leavers • children and young people aged 0 to 19, or young children’s families, with a social worker • disadvantaged year 10 pupils Internet access was also provided through 4G wireless routers for any of the following people who did not have it: • care leavers • secondary school pupils with a social worker • disadvantaged year 10 pupils The Department for Education ordered over 200,000 laptops and tablets and over 50,000 4G wireless routers based on its estimate of the number of children and young people in the eligible categories set out above. LAs and trusts were invited to forecast the number of devices they needed to support children and young people, who they were responsible for, in the eligible categories.
