We have been interested spectators in other events over the years. We watched arm wrestling, for instance, to find out that one of our music colleagues had competed nationally. One young girl hung on until bawling and pouring sweat; we all cheered mightily as she collapsed in her mom’s arms. Archery was interesting, too. And more than once we sat in the bleachers to see some of the track and field events. The pageantry associated with the games is fun, too. When the grandkids were little, we put them in the back of the pickup truck to watch the fireworks. A couple of times we sat in the bleach- ers and watched the fireworks overhead. “I love this town” is my mantra.
