Ses nombreux voyages d’affaires ou d’agrément dans la Ville des Vents lui ont révélé les charmes méconnus d’une métropole monumentale, dont les habitants jouissent d’une étonnante qua- lité de vie. Dans les moins chers ($), l’addition s’élève à moins de 15$ (les prix font référence à un repas complet sans boisson pour une personne, avant la taxe de 10,75% et le service); l’ambiance y est informelle, le service s’avère rapide, et ils sont fréquentés par les gens du coin. La catégorie moyenne ($$) se situe entre 15$ et 25$; l’ambiance y est déjà plus détendue, le menu plus varié et le rythme plus lent. La catégorie supérieure ($$$) oscille entre 26$ et 40$; la cuisine y est simple ou recherchée, mais le décor se veut plus agréable et le service plus personnalisé. Puis, il y a les restaurants dits gastronomiques ($$$$), où les prix s’élèvent à plus de 40$; ces établissements sont souvent pour les gourmets, la cuisine y devient un art, et le service se révèle toujours impeccable. Entre autres renseignements pratiques, nous indiquons dans les pages qui suivent l’horaire de chacun des établissements sélectionnés. Il est cependant à noter que la plupart des restaurants, surtout les adresses haut de gamme, font des pauses entre les repas, soit, grosso modo, entre 10h et 11h30 le matin et entre 14h et 17h l’après-midi. Nous avons également préparé une série d’index thématiques permettant de retrouver plus facilement le genre d’établissement que vous recherchez (voir en fin de chapitre). Une première liste est ainsi classée par types de cuisine. Puis, vous trouverez des listes de res- taurants disposant d’une terrasse, d’établissements où l’on peut regarder des matchs tout en mangeant, d’autres qui proposent un brunch le dimanche et finalement de restaurants où la cuisine reste ouverte jusque tard dans la soirée. Zeigel died May 8, 2006, at the age of 101 years old. Yet, the impression he left from his 34 years at Eastern, his 72 years with Rotary International and his friendly personality will not be easily forgotten. His wife, Frances E. Zeigel, died April 17, 2006. She was 102 years old. Zeigel died just three weeks later. June 1 would have been their 76th wedding anniversary. "For their wedding anniversary last year we were not able to find a 75th anniversary card from Hallmark, so I purchased a 50 year card and a 25 year card and taped them together. Dad got a real kick out of that," said son, Robert F. Zeigel. Zeigel came to Eastern in 1937, teaching education classes, and was the first to teach off- campus classes offered by the campus. His work with education would get him extra tire and gasoline rations during the war, according to son Robert. Because of his work with Eastern's Schoolmaster's Club, it enabled a guidance conference at Eastern to be arranged for high school juniors and seniors.
