Youth / Several new programs launched in 2017 for our Youth Roc program, including Youth Hangout Days, theatre club, cinema club, as well as treasured favorites like the U-DJ Dances, Youth Lock-in, and Big Queer Prom.

SAGE / Our SAGE program gives a voice for Rochester’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex older adults. Through weekly and monthly social gatherings, yoga classes, lunch and learns, happy hours, and more, SAGE provided personal growth, community connection, and resources to more seniors than ever before in 2017.

Library / The Out Alliance Library continued to thrive in 2017 as our collection grew past 7,000 volumes. Visitors checked out books and DVDs daily and came in to take a break, catch their breath, and dive into the impressive collection on our shelves. The Library also began collaboration with WorldCat.

Gallery Q / Gallery Q brought 10 unique, thought- provoking shows to the Out Alliance LGBTQ+ Resource Center in 2017, with themes reaching from Margot Fass’ mixed-media experience to Errol Daniels’ TransAmericans portraiture to the comic-based art of Otherdoms.

InQueery / InQueery programming relaunched in 2017 thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers. InQueery works with community organizations and businesses to bridge gaps in knowledge and resources around Rochester for the LGBTQ+ community, offering classes and events like Gender & the Media, Drag Queen Bingo, adoption workshops, Movie Night Out, and health presentations. Ride 4 Pride 2017 was our most successful Ride to date! In its eighth year, over 75 riders raised an incredible $63,000 before setting out on June 17 for their 50 mile ride. We even had a satellite ride in California with 3 veteran riders who could not make it to Rochester!

ROC Pride 2017 was the largest Pride celebration to date, drawing over 42,000 people to a week of events and activities to celebrate the “Summer of Love”, capping with the Pride Parade down Park Avenue and Festival in Cobb’s Hill Park. New in 2017 were a Youth Pride Dance and Community Dance Party. Gayme Night, 5K Run and Walk, Beach Party, and Sassy in the South Wedge made their return.
