Breve - Historia De Choloma BREVE - HISTORIA DE CHOLOMA Choloma, conoc¡da anteriormente como Tholomac, era una antiouísima aldea precolomb¡na asentada en Cpndelaria, cerca de uri cacicazgo de l'a tribu de los Xicaques descendientes de Ia rama Maya-Ulúa, quienes vivieron de'la aqricultura y comercio'en el Valle de Sula. Tholomac.qué signifita'en lengua indígena "Lo-ma a pie áel Váile", fue escenario de luchas entre lo's colo-nizadores y lás TribuS. La más significativa de ellas se llevó a cabo euando don Pedro de Alvarado. desoués de pacif¡car a los Indios de Quimistán. se dirioió con el mismo orooósito al valle de'Sula. e¡contrándose Con.el Cacique "Cicumba",lgfe de las.tribus'"Tliolomac", "Chaparro",'y "¡r¡maya", Alvarado tomó'como asalto lá-foftif¡cación de Cicumba a qüien hi2o pr¡s¡oneao para luego ejecutarlo. XVII cuando la población reorganizada por sacerdotes Franciscanos con el nombre de Santa María de Candelaria. Cañdelaria. Du.rante esta rfoqca, Santa María de Candelaria fue una Dlaza muy importante Dara el gob¡erno español púesto que servia de enlace entre Comayagua yi el Puefto de'Omoa. En7739, SantaMaríadeCandelaria,Getequa, llcamayay otrascomunidadesdel Valle de Sula fueron nuevamente destruidas. Erlesta ocasióh fúe responsabilidad de los Sambos que actuaban como fuerza revolucionaria y emancioadóra contra el mandato español. Los pobladores de la Aldea de Candelaria'se traslaiJaron a un luoar al cual baltiz_aron como Choloma, dándole el ant¡guo nombre de la población cón modificaciones Después de estos sucesos todas las aldeas del cacicazqo, entraron en franca decádencia. Tholomac siguió siendo una aldea indígená.'Sin impoftancia alguna hasta finales del siglo Para esta época, la V¡lla de San Pedro de Puerto Caballos funoía como luoar de tránsito entre la p.artg céntral de la provincia y la Cogta Nofte, por lo {ue su rápido crecimiento y desarróllo fue absorbiendó a las aldeas indígenas vécinas. Finalmente en 1894 fue fundado el Mun¡cipio de Choloma, sin embargo fue inscrito bajo el nombre de "El Paraíso", mismo que fue'cambiado 39 años despuéípor Choloma. El Municipio de Choloma desde los tiemoos de la Colonia ha sido una zona aqrícola qanaderd la cual no ha desarrollado entéramente su Dotenc¡al debido a su oósición fisiográfica y a las constantes inundac¡ones a que se Ve sujeta. A mediados del Siqlo XIX se traieron las orimeras semillas de banano orocedente de Jama¡ca, las cualeS d¡eron in¡c¡o- a la indu'stria bananera con muy buerios resultados. Años más tarde la Comoañía Bananera "New YorkTrooical AoricultLral Comoanv". inició sus ooeraciones en el' Mun¡cio¡o, oenerando una qr'an actÍvidad económica 'oúe fue refoaáda con la construcción ilel ferrocarril. El-20 de iulio de 1870, la órimera locomotora bautizada como "La Medina" oasó Dor la ciudad-de Choloma e inició rutas regulares entre Choloma, San Pedro Sula 1i Puerto Cortés. A DrinciDios del Dresente siolo se cultivó la caña de azúcar. obteniéndose buenos rebultados. En 1919 se conStruvó el Inqenio Azucarero de'La Lima siendo uno de los primeros de su clase en la Cost'a Noftef consumiendo el 100o/o de las cosechas de caña ilel Municipio. En 1936 la ¡ndustr¡a bananera se vio truncada debido a la siqatoca y la enfermedad de Panamá. el emoorio bananero se vino abaio v la New York Tiooical Aoricultural ComoanV decid¡ó trasladar sus oDerac¡oneÉ a'Sur América. Años más tarde las olantaci<ines del Municioio ocurridas en los años 1909. 1916. 1935. 1936 Y 1954. Después de la oérdida de las plantaciones de Caña v él abaridono de las fincas banáneras, los'habitantes se dedicaron a la ganadeiía y al cultivo de cítricos y granos básicos. Lo anter¡or se mantuvo como Datrimonio del Municipio hasta la década de los cincuenta cuando empezaron a funcionai las primeras industrias dedicadas a la explotación de madera. En el año 1989, comienza la industria de la Maquila. Actualmente el Municipio posee un gran número de industrias y un gran porcentaje del área es dedicado a la lanádería y a'1a agricultura. Creación del Municipio de Choloma: El Munic¡p¡o de Choloma fue creado durante la Administración del Dr. Policarpo Bonilla y fue el 13 de Mayo de 1894 que tuvo lugar este hecho. Dentro de sus acontec¡mientos históricos podemos menc¡onar el hecho que obtuvo el título de ciudad mediante acuerdo número 660 del 12 de noviembre de 1941 por el Poder Ejecutivo a través del ramo de Gobernación y Justicia conforme Decreto 108 siendo Presidente de Honduras el Dr. Juan Manuel Gálvez. En 1905 la población fue diezmada por la fiebre amarilla y todas las víctimas fueron sepultadas donde actualmente se llama Trincheras lugar donde se encuentra una ru¡na arqueológica la cual tiene por nombre El Obelisco como homenaje póstumo a la lucha librada entre Vicente Tosta y Gregorio Ferrera en el año de 1919. Feria Patronalr Los habitantes del Mun¡cipio de Choloma celebran su Feria Patronal en el mes de febrero de cada año. Las diferentes activ¡dades van dedicadas a la Patrona de los Cholomeños, la Santísima Virgen de Lourdes, según investigaciones realizadas la primera Feria Patronal se realizo en el año de 1940, lo que indica que en el presente año de 1989 los Cholomeños estaban celebrando la edición número 49 de su feria. The Northern, Western and Southern regions of Honduras were heavily hit by strong rains over several days. The Government of Honduras declared a state of emergency on 20 October and formally requested humanitarian assistance. A red alert was declared in the Departments of Copán and Ocotepeque, a yellow alert in Francisco Morazán and Cortes. Floods and landslides were registered throughout the affected regions, damaging and destroying houses, infrastructure and crops. An important number of families had to take refuge in shelters. The Permanent Commission for Contingencies (COPECO) indicated a number of 34 deaths, 16 persons missing, 42,304 evacuated, 68,716 directly affected persons and a total of 12,429 inundated houses. A total of 101,107 ha of crops were affected. COPECO has been coordinating relief activities and distributed humanitarian aid through its regional emergency committees. The international response includes ongoing actions from United Nations organizations, the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO), the Red Cross, Oxfam, and others. ACT members Christian Aid, Comisión Cristiana de Desarrollo, Dan Church Aid, Swiss Interchurch Aid (HEKS) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) responded to the crisis phase through ACT Rapid Response Fund number 31/2008 issued on 11 November 2008.

    Testtttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt Country Office Annual Report 2019 Honduras Update on the context and situation of children The political polarisation that has been plaguing the country for years continued to be felt in 2019. Various sectors continue opposing the government, which complicates the ability to govern. This situation exacerbates the institutional fragility affecting the State of Honduras and its capacity to effectively implement development programmes to protect children’s rights. In the economic and social sphere, the recently published Social Panorama of Latin America[1] indicates that the worst incidence of poverty and extreme poverty as of 2018 were found in Mexico, Bolivia and Honduras.[2] This is a rather severe situation as there were no significant changes in poverty levels between 2002 and 2017. Furthermore, in countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua, more than 70% of the population is composed of households with per capita income less than 1.8 times the poverty line, which means they are at risk of falling into poverty in the face of external factors such as loss of employment[3]. In general, social programmes do not seem to favour conditions for improving the living conditions of Hondurans. For example, there is a decrease in income from non-contributory public transfers that are made by States to alleviate poverty and reduce vulnerability and that generally include conditional transfers[4]. In addition, Honduras is one of the countries in the region that most reduced the central government’s public social spending between 2016 and 2018 (10%)[5] and one of the countries with the lowest per capita resources allocated to financing social policies, with less than USD 230 compared to Chile and Uruguay, which allocated just over USD 2,500 or Costa Rica in the same sub region with 1,209 USD in recent years[6].

    HONDURAS: Tormentas Tropicales Eta e Iota Informe de Situación No. 9 Al 9 de marzo 2021 Este informe es elaborado por la Oficina de la Coordinadora Residente y la Oficina para la Coordinación de Asuntos Humanitarios (OCHA), en colaboración con las agencias, fondos y programas del Sistema de las Naciones Unidas, y Organizaciones miembros del Equipo Humanitario de País (EHP). El enfoque es el trabajo del Sistema de Naciones Unidas en la emergencia. No resume el trabajo de otras organizaciones ni del gobierno. Cubre el periodo del 04 de febrero al 09 de marzo de 2021. DESTACADOS Entre el 01 y el 16 de noviembre, Honduras fue afectada por dos fenómenos naturales, el primero la depresión tropical Eta y luego el huracán Iota, que ingresó como tormenta tropical. Ambos generaron fuertes impactos en diversas áreas del país. ● El financiamiento al Flash Appeal ha aumentado un 4 por ciento (30 al 34 por ciento) en el mes anterior, que equivale a unos 30,9 millones de dólares. Aún hay fondos de donantes que no se han reportado o no se han reportado apropiadamente en el Financial Tracking Service (FTS). ● De estos 30,9 millones de dólares recibidos a través del Flash Appeal, fue reportado por los sectores de Seguridad Alimentaria, ASH y Salud, la ejecución de un 30 por ciento. ● El sector de coordinación y gestión de albergues a través de 38 actores humanitarios, asistió aproximadamente a 60.000 personas en albergues colectivos desde el inicio de la crisis, lo que equivale a más del 60 por ciento del total de personas que estuvieron albergadas.
