    LA SOCIEDAD FILARMÓNICA Y DE RECREO DE GÜÍMAR (1884-1909) Y LA BANDA DE MÚSICA QUE ALBERGÓ EN SU SENO 1 OCTAVIO RODRÍGUEZ DELGADO (Cronista Oficial de Güímar) [blog.octaviordelgado.es ] Desde comienzos del siglo XIX se celebraban animados bailes en diversas casas particulares del municipio, sobre todo con motivo de las Fiestas de San Pedro en Güímar y las de San José en El Escobonal. Pero pronto surgieron los casinos, las primeras sociedades culturales y recreativas del municipio. La pionera fue la Sociedad “El Porvenir Democrático” (1869-1874), a la que siguieron la Sociedad “Filarmónica y de Recreo” de Güímar (1884- 1909), el Casino de Güímar (1900-), único que sobrevive hasta el presente, la Sociedad “Euterpe” (1910-1914)2 y el Casino “La Unión” (1915-1924)3. En este artículo solo nos vamos a dedicar a la segunda de ellas. En la calle San Pedro Abajo de Güímar se estableció la Sociedad Filarmónica y de Recreo, que existió durante unos 25 años y en los últimos compartió su actividad con el Casino de Güímar. FUNDACIÓN DE LA SOCIEDAD Y ABSORCIÓN DE LA BANDA DE MÚSICA La “Sociedad Filarmónica y de Recreo” de Güímar fue fundada el 19 abril de 1884 en la calle San Pedro Abajo de la cabecera municipal.     LAS CAMPANAS DEL MUNICIPIO DE GÜÍMAR: LENGUAJE, HISTORIA Y TRADICIÓN José Lorenzo Chinea Cáceres Resumen El presente artículo aborda el estudio de las campanas del municipio tinerfeño de Güímar, atendiendo a criterios organológicos, histórico-artísticos y etnográficos. Partiendo de la comprensión de las funciones desempeñadas por estos instrumentos de comunicación social en la cultura occidental católica, se desarrolla un estudio documental de cada una de las campanas que penden de las torres y espadañas de los templos de la localidad, concluyendo con una sucinta referencia a los diferentes repiques tradicionales que se ejecutan durante sus fiestas mayores. Palabras clave: campana, Güímar, campaneros, repiques. Abstract «Güímar’s bells: language, history and tradition». This article deals with a study about church bells from Güímar, a municipality on the island of Tenerife. In order to do it so, different approaches —organologic, historic, artistic and ethnographic— have been considered. Firstly, the understanding of church bell role in social communication inside occidental-catholic culture is analysed. Secondly, all church bells from church towers and 73 bell gables in the churches throughout Güímar have been taken into consideration in order to carry out a documentary study. Finally, a concise mention of different traditional ringings from main town celebrations has been added. Keywords: Church bell, Güímar, bell-ringers, ringings. INTRODUCCIÓN El estudio de las campanas de Güímar propone un acercamiento a una parte del importante patrimonio material y musical del municipio que, hasta el momento, ha pasado desapercibido para los diferentes ámbitos de la investigación histórica. Se trata de un trabajo impulsado por la necesidad de contar con un inventario preciso de estos instrumentos en la provincia de Santa Cruz de Tenerife que, iniciado en 2012, contempla, entre otros, criterios organológicos, histórico-artísticos y sociales.

    RELACIÓN DE ALCALDES DEL MUNICIPIO DE GRANADILLA DE ABONA OCTAVIO RODRÍGUEZ DELGADO Cronista Oficial de Güímar y Candelaria Granadilla de Abona 2016 1 No conocemos todos los alcaldes que ha tenido la jurisdicción de Granadilla de Abona, pues sólo se conservan algunas actas del Ayuntamiento desde 1924 hasta el presente, por lo que es solamente en este último período cuando disponemos de las fechas exactas de posesión y cese. Sin embargo, gracias a documentos consultados en otros archivos locales, insulares y regionales, tanto públicos como privados, así como a numerosos libros y publicaciones periódicas, hemos podido elaborar una lista bastante completa de las personas que con anterioridad a dicha fecha ocuparon tanto la alcaldía real en el Antiguo Régimen, desde el siglo XVI al XIX, como la alcaldía constitucional en los diversos períodos de ese último siglo y comienzos del XX. La jurisdicción de estos alcaldes ha variado a lo largo del tiempo, pues en un principio abarcaba a la comarca sur de la isla, la de Abona o Chasna, que incluía a los actuales municipios de Vilaflor, Arona, San Miguel de Abona, Granadilla de Abona y Arico. En 1617, Granadilla se segregó de tan amplia jurisdicción, tanto en lo religioso como en lo civil, y en 1798 se le agregó el pago de Chiñama. Como curiosidad, de los 121 alcaldes titulares que conocemos después de su segregación, pues muchos repitieron en el cargo, el récord de permanencia en la alcaldía lo ostenta don Francisco Jaime González Cejas , durante casi 21 años (hasta el momento), en dos etapas, seguido por: don Evaristo Gómez González durante más de 14 años consecutivos; don Adolfo Gómez Gómez , durante más de 12 años seguidos; don Froilán Hernández González , durante 12 años consecutivos; don Antonio Rodríguez Bello , durante unos 10 años, en cuatro etapas; don Alberto Hernández Oramas , durante casi 10 años seguidos; y don Antonio García Osorio , durante casi 6 años, en cinco períodos.
