DEPARTMENTAL HONORS PROGRAM A student with excellent research potential and exceptional performance in the major may be invited to participate in the Departmental Honors Program. Emphasizing independent investigation, the program culminates in a bachelor’s thesis, defended in oral examination. Successful completion is indicated on the diploma as “Honors in (Discipline).” Founded in 1965, the program is open by invitation only.
