Albany County Oral Histories A project of the Albany County Museum Coalition and the Laramie Plains Museum Supported in part by an award from the Wyoming State Historical Records Advisory Board, through funding from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), National Archives and Records Administration. Collecting institutions are given for the 426 Oral History Interviews (OHIs) listed on the following spreadsheet. Call or email the institution to set up an appointment to view or listen to these OHIs. The collecting institutions all have different hours and opening days, some are seasonal. Using This Spreadsheet Abreviations: See separate sheet, click on "Abbreviations" at bottom of this sheet. Arrangement: Collecting institutions with the original audio have all their OHIs listed together. Within that grouping they are generally alphabetized by the last name of the narrator. However, when new entries are made they will always be at the end of the Collecting Institution's section which will result in some names being out of alphabetical order. Blank Spaces: Usually this means that the Collecting Institution did not provide the information required for this spreadsheet. The information may be available by listening to the tape; it just means that it was not available at the time this list was made. Only a small portion of the tapes were actually listened to for this spreadsheet--only those that were thought to be candidates for transcription. Printing the spreadsheet: You can print this spreadsheet by using your browsers print function or for a well formatted printable version go Albany County Public Library "Wyoming Room" menu on their website. Location: There are nine different Collecting Institutions (see list below) where these OHIs may be located. No one institution has access to all of them, though there are a few OHIs that have transcripts housed at several different institutions, all of which have public access. More Information: Check with reference librarians at the ACPL for assistance in using this spreadsheet, or contact any of the members of the steering committee for this project, whose names are given on the "Abbreviations" spreadsheet. "No" [as an entry]: Means that the item does not exist, unlike a blank, which means we do not know if it exists. Original recordings: Where possible, the location of the audio is given separately from location of the transcript. Often there is no transcript, and in a few instances, the original recording is lost. Searching the spreadsheet: Start by clicking on "Albany County Oral Histories" in the menu at the top of this page. Type "Control-F" to bring up a "find" menu in your browser's system. Enter the text you want to search for, such as "Centennial" and request the search. All places in the spreadsheet where that word appears will be highlighted.
