CMGT 574 TELE-MEDIA: STRATEGIC AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS FALL 2015 Updated 8/25/2015 Room: ANN L116 Day: Wednesdays Time: 6:30-9:20pm Professors: Lisa Vebber Contact: [email protected] Phone: (213) 604-5819 Office Hrs: Wed, 5-6:30pm (alternate times may be arranged via e-mail) COURSE DESCRIPTION: Better, affordable technology that is accessible to the masses has created a seismic shift in the entertainment industry, and it will never be the same. The business of television, even the very definition of what is considered television, has changed more in the last five years than in the previous 50. The biggest shift: Power and control moving from the big media companies to the consumer. It seems like a great thing for consumers, right? Unfortunately, it’s not so black and white. Every action has a consequence, and the decisions being made in television today will impact the business and the consumer for a long time. To predict the future, we must understand the past. The first part of the semester will look at how the business worked for the last 50 years. We will learn how each sector makes money – broadcast and cable networks, cable companies and studios. Then we will learn about the issues facing the industry today, their impact on each sector, and use that knowledge to make predictions on how it will all shake out. COURSE OBJECTIVES Students will be able to: • analyze current and future entertainment industry issues using historical entertainment business models to generate strategies and programming (position paper) • research and compare -

TV Land Inks Script Deal with Electus' Ben Silverman And
TV LAND INKS SCRIPT DEAL WITH ELECTUS’ BEN SILVERMAN AND WRITER JON SHERMAN New York, NY – October 7, 2013 – TV Land has closed a half-hour workplace comedy script deal with multimedia studio Electus, an operating business of IAC (NASDAQ:IACI) which was announced today by Keith Cox, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming for TV Land. The script revolves around a 30-something woman as she navigates the executive ranks among her old-school male counterparts while her 20-something male assistant tries to make it amid his female-dominated peers – two fish, a big corporate pond, and very little water. The untitled script will be written and executive produced by Jon Sherman (“Frasier”) with Electus’ Chairman and Founder, Ben Silverman and Jimmy Fox also executive producing. “Jon Sherman is a brilliant writer and we are thrilled to be working with him and the amazing team at TV Land,” said Silverman. “Electus is growing across all genres with best in class partners.” Cox added, “Jon's contemporary take on a workplace comedy is a universal concept that we are really excited to explore. With him and the Electus team at the helm, we can't wait to see the uncomfortable situations the characters will face and what comedic boundaries they will push.” In addition to the Electus project, TV Land also recently announced a sitcom pilot, “Jennifer Falls,” starring Jaime Pressly, and a second for a single camera show, “Younger,” written by Darren Star. This December, TV Land will debut its newest original series, "Kirstie," which stars Kirstie Alley, Michael Richards, Rhea Perlman and Eric Petersen. -

Their role in shaping public opinion through their media interests, and their mastering of the world of business and trade is pivotal to the world economy. As a group they are the most successful in terms of income and wealth and they have reached the highest echelons or the pinnacle of power in every field. Jews are the masters of Hollywood, they are the masters of all forms of media, radio, and television. They are masters of trade and commerce and banking, medicine, and law. The following lists we believe prove this reality. Jewish Lists The lists below are available on the internet. A spot check of several of the names found it to be generally accurate, though we cannot vouch for ALL of the names, and some titles may be out of date. The second list claims to be updated in 2012.
