The Art of the Deal for North Korea: The Unexplored Parallel between Bush and Trump Foreign Policy* Soohoon Lee ‘Make America Great Again,’ has been revived while ‘America First’ and ‘peace through strength,’ have been revitalized by the Trump admin istration. Americans and the rest of the world were shocked by the dramatic transformation in U.S. foreign policy. In the midst of striking changes, this research analyzes the first hundred days of the Trump administration’s foreign policy and aims to forecast its prospects for North Korea. In doing so, the George W. Bush administration’s foreign policy creeds, ‘American exceptionalism’ and ‘peace through strength,’ are revisited and compared with that of Trump’s. Beyond the similarities and differences found between the two administrations, the major finding of the analysis is that Trump’s profitoriented nature, through which he operated the Trump Organization for nearly a half century, has indeed influenced the interest- oriented nature in his operating of U.S. foreign policy. The prospects for Trump’s policies on North Korea will be examined through a business sensitive lens. Wirth Abstract Aims: An Arctic Vegetation Classification (AVC) is needed to address issues related to rapid Arctic-wide changes to climate, land-use, and biodiversity. Location: The 7.1 million km2 Arctic tundra biome. Approach and conclusions: The purpose, scope and conceptual framework for an Arctic Vegetation Archive (AVA) and Classification (AVC) were developed during numerous workshops starting in 1992. The AVA and AVC are modeled after the European vegetation archive (EVA) and classification (EVC). The AVA will use Turboveg for data management. The AVC will use a Braun-Blanquet (Br.-Bl.) classification approach. There are approxi- mately 31,000 Arctic plots that could be included in the AVA. An Alaska AVA (AVA-AK, 24 datasets, 3026 plots) is a prototype for archives in other parts of the Arctic. The plan is to eventually merge data from other regions of the Arctic into a single Turboveg v3 database. We present the pros and cons of using the Br.-Bl. clas- sification approach compared to the EcoVeg (US) and Biogeoclimatic Ecological Classification (Canada) ap- proaches. -

Stems simple or rarely branched, pubescent to subglabrous, hairs always eglandular. Leaves spirally arranged, rarely subopposite or subverticillate, sublea- thery, basal ones sessile, upper ones usually petiolate; stipules absent; bracteoles absent. Inflorescence a simple raceme or spike, rarely branched. Flowers 4-merous, slightly zygomorphic, strongly protandrous, lacking a floral tube, producing nectar from raised disk at base of style and stamens. Petals pink to rose-purple, rarely white, obcordate or obtrullate, entire. Stamens 8, subequal in single whorl, erect at onset of anthesis, later reflexed; pollen blue or yellow, shed in monads. Style initially deflexed, becoming erect as stigma deflexes; stigma deeply 4-lobed and revolute, receptive on inner surfaces. Fruit an elongate capsule, slender, 4-loculed, loculidical. Seeds many, with terminal coma of silky hairs. 2n = 36, 72, 108. Eight species: montane to arctic N hemisphere, widespread in Asia and Europe, barely reaching N Africa, and in North America south to the high mountains of C Mexico; four species in China. The species occur primarily in moist, rocky areas in high-montane regions, with one species (Chamerion angustifolium) more widespread in dis- turbed, temperate habitats. Raven (Ann. Missouri Bot. Wilterding III The higher classification and evolutionary biology for Nearctic and Palearctic Momphinae is completely revised by cladistic analysis of morphological characters of the adults. A total of 69 ingroup taxa were used along with four outgroup taxa. Approximately 61 morphological characters were coded as unordered binary or multistate characters. A total of 24 equally parsimonious trees of 181 steps (CI=0.6348) were found.
