We hasten to add, however, that complete as this list seems, it is a work perpetually being updated. The very nature of the Chabad movement and its ever-expanding number of institutions precludes the possibility of a completely finalized directory. We are proud of the fact that new schools are founded every year and that keeping pace with the continuously expanding Chabad education world is an almost impossible task. Clearly, compiling this directory required diligence, persistence, and organizational skills and we are grateful to Miss Esther Silberstein for undertaking this project and bringing it to fruition. In spite of the difficulty of keeping pace, we do our best to keep our records current and encourage schools to inform our office as soon as any change occurs. Finally, we are constantly in the process of updating our comprehensive list of Mechanchim and Mechanchos in Chabad institutions. Being on the mailing list will ensure that you are informed about the goings-on at our office, and most importantly you will regularly receive the Chabad educational journal "Educational Pathways", the “Mzman L’zman” newsletter in addition to information, memoranda and letters. Both schools and educators are requested to assure that our information is correct. • With Just One Masechta Left to Global Siyum Hashas, a Call from Lublin to Encourage Greater Daf Yomi Participation
With Just One Masechta Left to Global Siyum Hashas, A Call from Lublin to Encourage Greater Daf Yomi Participation October 25, 2019 by Sandy Eller Video of the Siyum Seder Kodshim. View the full video of the event here. What began in Lublin has returned to Lublin, as divrei bracha delivered in honor of the penultimate siyum of the 13th Daf Yomi cycle emanated from a place whose walls still echo with the kol Torah of pre-war Poland, Rav Meir Shapiro’s Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin. With just over two months remaining until klal yisroel’s global celebration of Torah unfolds at MetLife Stadium on January 1st, 2020, Daf Yomi fever is at an all time high and there could be no better place to celebrate the completion of Seder Kodshim than Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, Poland, where the first two Siyumei HaShas were held in 1931 and 1938. Traveling to Lublin to speak in front of the iconic yeshiva’s aron kodesh, Rabbi Meir Tzvi Spitzer, Rosh Mesivta at Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, described the siyum on Seder Kodshim as a major milestone that will inspire countless individuals to expand the scope of their limudim, sparking additional siyumim as the countdown towards the 13th Global Siyum HaShas of Daf Yomi heads towards its final celebratory moments. Eloquently describing the tremendous kedusha of the yeshiva as the best possible location to daven for the continued growth of klal yisroel’s unprecedented commitment to limud HaTorah b’kvius, Rabbi Spitzer noted that those who study Daf Yomi have been showered with tremendous bracha and siyata dishmaya as they bring Rav Meir Shapiro’s dream to life on a daily basis.

For the most part, it ignores the doctrines, faith, and practices of Orthodox Jews, and barely touches upon synagogue hie, which is the most meaningful expression of American Orthodoxy. It is hoped that the reader will find here some appreciation of the vitality of American Orthodoxy. Earlier predictions of the demise of 11 am indebted to many people who assisted me in making this essay possible. More than 40, active in a variety of Orthodox organizations, gave freely of their time for extended discussions and interviews and many lay leaders and rabbis throughout the United States responded to a mail questionnaire. A number of people read a draft of this paper. I would be remiss if I did not mention a few by name, at the same time exonerating them of any responsibility for errors of fact or for my own judgments and interpretations. The section on modern Orthodoxy was read by Rabbi Emanuel Rackman. The sections beginning with the sectarian Orthodox to the conclusion of the paper were read by Rabbi Nathan Bulman. Criticism and comments on the entire paper were forthcoming from Rabbi Aaron Lichtenstein, Dr. Marshall Ski are, and Victor Geller, without whose assistance the section on the number of Orthodox Jews could not have been written.

  • The Rosh Chodesh Planner Was Designed to Serve As a Resource for Shluchos When Planning Women's Programs. Many Years Ago, When
בס"ד PREFACE The Rosh Chodesh Planner was designed to serve as a resource for shluchos when planning women’s programs. Many years ago, when one of the first shluchim arrived in Pittsburgh, PA, prepared to combat the assimilation of America through hafotzas hamayonos, one of the directives of the Rebbe to the shlucha was that it did not suffice for her to only become involved in her husband’s endeavors, but that she should become involved in her own areas of activities as well. Throughout the years of his nesiyus, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Nesi Dorenu, appreciated and valued the influential role the woman plays as the akeres habayis. This is evident in the many sichos which the Rebbe dedicated specifically to Jewish women and girls worldwide. Involved women are catalysts for involved families and involved communities. Shluchos, therefore, have always dedicated themselves towards reaching a broad spectrum of Jewish women from many affiliations, professions and interests. Programs become educational vehicles, provide networking and outreach opportunities for the participants, and draw them closer in their unified quest for a better and more meaningful tomorrow. Many shluchos have incorporated a schedule of gathering on a monthly basis. Brochures are mailed out at the onset of the year containing the year’s schedule at a glance. Any major event(s) are incorporated as well. This system offers the community an organized and well-planned view of the year’s events. It lets them know what to expect and gives them the ability to plan ahead. In the z’chus of all the positive accomplishments that have been and are continuously generated from women’s programs, may we be worthy of the immediate and complete Geulah.

The Way to the Tree of Life Jewish practice entails fulfilling many laws. Our diet is limited, our days to work are defined, and every aspect of life has governing directives. Is observance of all the laws easy? Is a perfectly righteous life close to our heart and near to our limbs? A righteous life seems to be an impossible goal! However, in the Torah, our great teacher Moshe, Moses, declared that perfect fulfillment of all religious law is very near and easy for each of us. Every word of the Torah rings true in every generation. Lesson one explores how the Tanya resolved these questions. It will shine a light on the infinite strength that is latent in each Jewish soul. When that unending holy desire emerges, observance becomes easy. Lesson One: The Infinite Strength of the Jewish Soul The title page of the Tanya states: A Collection of Teachings ספר PART ONE לקוטי אמרים חלק ראשון Titled הנקרא בשם The Book of the Beinonim ספר של בינונים Compiled from sacred books and Heavenly מלוקט מפי ספרים ומפי סופרים קדושי עליון נ״ע teachers, whose souls are in paradise; based מיוסד על פסוק כי קרוב אליך הדבר מאד בפיך ובלבבך לעשותו upon the verse, “For this matter is very near to לבאר היטב איך הוא קרוב מאד בדרך ארוכה וקצרה ”;you, it is in your mouth and heart to fulfill it בעזה״י and explaining clearly how, in both a long and short way, it is exceedingly near, with the aid of the Holy One, blessed be He. "1 of "393 The Way to the Tree of Life From the outset of his work therefore Rav Shneur Zalman made plain that the Tanya is a guide for those he called “beinonim.” Beinonim, derived from the Hebrew bein, which means “between,” are individuals who are in the middle, neither paragons of virtue, tzadikim, nor sinners, rishoim.
