Ehret 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley The fruit for this wine is harvested by hand from the Ehret Family's estate Bavarian Lion Vineyards located in Knights Valley. The Knights Valley AVA is protected from the marine inﬂuence of the Pacific Ocean, making it the warmest AVA in Sonoma County. The vineyards on the estate range from 400-800 feet in elevation and are located just north of Calistoga and east of Alexander Valley, on the foothills of Mount St. Helena. The unique topography and soil content make this a most desirable area to grow Bordeaux and Northern Rhône grapes. The soil consists of well drained, very gravelly and sandy loams formed from mixed sedimentary and basic rock. Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Our 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is the workhorse of the bunch. With a moderately dense body and forward fruit notes of black cherries, currants and pomegranate juice, this wine has layers and layers of flavors. The long lingering oak tannins extend the finish to create a well-balanced wine. A slight candlewax note on the nose will encourages bouquet expression through cellar aging, but the smooth and approachable tannin structure will reward those who cannot wait, with an exquisitely lush and vibrant wine. KNIGHTS VALLEY PROPERTY Offered at $7,650,000 Summers’ Knights Valley estate, Summers Ranch, had its viticultural beginnings as a 10-acre Merlot vineyard planted more than 30 years ago by Dan Duckhorn. The 1985 vintage from the Knights Valley vineyard, with grapes purchased by the Finkelstein family (Whitehall Lane), gained acclaim when it was proclaimed the Merlot of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine. The Summers purchased the property in 1987 from the Hassan family. At that time the vineyard was still mostly planted to Merlot grapes which were sold to various wineries, such as Newton, Ferrari Carano and more. Over the years, the vineyard was replanted and expanded to a total of 26.6 +/- acres of various Bordeaux varietals, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon. Summers continues to make a small bottling of reserve Merlot from this storied vineyard as well as exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, and Petit Verdot wines. The various Bordeaux varietals are also used as part of Summers “Grandmaster” Red Blend “Checkmate” wine. The property is located in an exquisite setting of majestic oaks with panoramic views to the western hills. In addition to the vineyard, the property features a 30 acre-ft pond, a 3BR/2.5BA main home and a 2BR/1BA granny unit. Knights Valley is located northwest of Calistoga, between Mt. St. Helena and the Alexander Valley. It is one of Sonoma’s warmest appellations, and its volcanic soils and close proximity to the Napa Valley have led to increased interest in Bordeaux varietals from the appellation in recent years.

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: What is not to like about this proprietary blend of the 5 main Bordeaux varieties? At 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 9% Malbec, 1.5% Cabernet Franc and 1.5% Petit Verdot, this wine is both complex and well-integrated. Unfolding layers of black currant and French plums are accented by what the bit players bring to the ensemble. Petit Verdot with its inky black depths, the fresh blueberry torte that is the Malbec and Cabernet Franc with its exotic unprocessed coffee berry notes, are irreplaceable. Within this framework of ripe, supple tannins each variety brings it’s best to the table for the betterment of the blend. I am delighted to share our second annual “State of the Valley” with you. It is meant to serve as a portrait of the work behind us and a prom- ise of the pursuit ahead of us. The year 2013 was stellar. Our newest re- leases were met with rave reviews, our wines in cellar continued to age beautifully and Mother Nature delivered a remarkable growing season. We are incredibly thankful for the recognition of our efforts and we are very enthused as this new year begins. We are especially inspired by the gatherings we hosted this past year, giving us the opportunity to share our wines with new folks and longtime friends alike. The highlight was having friends and family come together at Jim and RoAnn Bailey’s spectacular home to celebrate Knights Bridge’s fall release complete with the music of the masterful Yo Yo Ma. Whether this is an introduction to Knights Bridge or you have been on this journey with us for some time, each vintage is a new discovery and each shared bottle is an unique experience. The Vietnamese philosopher Thich Nhat Hanh said, “Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world revolves — slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future. Live the actual moment.” For me, one of the most astounding gifts that wine bestows is the opportu- nity to celebrate, purely and fully, the now. As we look back on the year behind us and dream of the accomplishments in the months ahead, may we pause.

Knights Bridge Winery History In 2006, Jim Bailey purchased an 83-acre parcel of land with hillside vineyards in Knights Valley, the perfect spot to produce exceptional Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Along with his brother Essel Bailey, and longtime friend Tom Costin, he began his journey into wine and founded Knights Bridge with the singular goal of producing world-class wines. Understanding that great wine starts in the vineyard, the team dedicated themselves to analyzing each vineyard block for perfect synergy between specific soils, varieties, and clones. They adopted new, sustainable vineyard management techniques, replanted portions of the estate, and hired a team of seasoned professionals who shared their ambition to produce the best wines possible. This year, Jim embarked on a long-awaited project to build a small winery on the estate, which will be completed in mid-2021.
