2018/19 TOYOTA CRICKET AUSTRALIA AUSTRALIAN cricketaustralia COUNTRY CRICKET @CAPathway CHAMPIONSHIPS SHEPPARTON, VIC 3 - 11 JAN 2019 WELCOME CRICKET AUSTRALIA IS PROUD TO SUPPORT THE 2019 TOYOTA AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SHEPPARTON, VICTORIA. Australia’s regions have a rich history of producing some of our nation’s best cricketers and for over 30 years, country cricketers have been able to showcase their talents at these championships. Cricket plays a key role in so many regional and rural communities. Representing your community is always a tremendous honour, but to do so alongside other cricketers identified as the best country players in the nation is particularly special. That’s why these championships are so significant; they not only provide a breeding ground for Australian cricket’s next generation of stars but also demonstrate the vital role cricket plays in community development in our regions. In 2019, the Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships are being held in the heart of Victoria’s foodbowl – the City of Greater Shepparton. Five men’s teams and seven women’s teams will gather from across Australia and the East Asia-Pacific region to contest the title of Australian country champions. We look back to the 2018 championships where we saw outstanding performances from the Men’s New South Wales and Women’s South Australian teams who took out the titles. Joe Price (NSW) scored 277 runs and took 17 wickets as men’s player of the tournament and South Australia’s Brittany Perry led her side with 280 runs in a dominant display as player of the tournament in the women’s competition.

  • Kent County Cricketers a to Z
Kent County Cricketers A to Z Part Two 1919-1939 By Derek Carlaw Statistics by John Winnifrith This collection of biographies have been written, on behalf of the ACS, by Derek Carlaw. For those readers wishing to obtain more detailed statistical information, it is recommended that a search is undertaken on the relevant pages of the CricketArchive website ( http://cricketarchive.com/ ). Kent County Cricketers A to Z Part Two 1919 to 1939 Introduction Part Two of the Kent A to Z covers the 92 cricketers who made their entry into first-class cricket for Kent between the wars. With 12 Championship titles, 330 wins and only 49 defeats, Yorkshire dominated throughout the two decades, but Kent could reasonably claim to be the most successful of the Southern counties, twice ending runners-up and in only three seasons failing to finish in the top half of the table. During those inter-war years, cricket was becoming increasingly professional. Of the names listed in the county averages in the 1921 Wisden, over 57% were amateurs. By 1931 the figure had fallen to 41%; and in the last pre-war season it was down to 33%. Kent, in common with one or two other counties, fought hard against the prevailing trend. Throughout the period, they stuck to their long- established policy of endeavouring to field a minimum of three amateurs in every match. In practice, they were quite frequently unable to do so, especially early in the season but, of the 92 cricketers listed in the following pages, 60, i.e. over 65%, were, in the idiom of the time, ‘Gentlemen’.
