Move On Up is a highly successful and valued programme which aims to empower teachers to deliver high quality lessons more consistently, giving them the motivation, confidence and skills to be the best teacher they can be. The programme is proven to work best for teachers who have the capacity to reflect upon and improve their own practice. We provide the support of outstanding facilitators, observation of excellent classroom practice, research materials, and practical resources which prompt sustainable change. There is a clear focus on the key principles which underpin effective teaching to improve student outcomes, alongside the development of sustainable improvement.

Who is it for? Delegates may already be good practitioners who want to move their teaching on to the next level or they may be less confident practitioners who are in need of guidance and support to improve their practice. The programme has proven highly successful with a wide range of teachers at varying stages of their career from NQT onwards.

Participants will: • Receive guided instruction on how to fine tune key areas of Teaching and Learning such as: - the expert’s classroom - explaining - questioning - differentiation - modelling - practice - feedback • Observe outstanding practitioners in their classrooms • Complete gap tasks between sessions • Reflect upon and discuss their current practice in order to develop and improve their effectiveness in the classroom • Receive practical advice on how to improve • Read and research the theory behind the key elements of the programme • Have access to mentoring by a middle/senior leader in their own school between sessions • Complete a ‘teaching challenge’ which demonstrates the progress made in one or more of the key areas

What is it? A fantastic opportunity to develop KS2, 3, 4 & 5 student engagement in STEM subjects at your school.

How does it work? Working in teams students design, make and test a rocket powered car. This will involve tackling a variety of engineering challenges. Teams can also be entered into National and International competitions.

How can you get involved? There are two ways your school can get involved:

Option 1: Set up your own Rocket Car club. Resources can be bought online and cost around £10 per car. You will have access to online resources and support from staff at The Redhill Academy to help you design and manufacture cars at your own school. You can then attend one of the race events that are held at The Redhill Academy each term to launch your rocket cars.

Option 2 (Ideal for KS2 Students): Redhill staff can visit your school and deliver a one day workshop to your students. This will involve setting up a test track at your school for students to launch the rocket cars. Cost - £14 per student (based on students working in pairs)

What can we offer? The RTSA is passionate about supporting schools in order to maximise student achievement and progress. Our alliance members are entitled to one free day of school to school support per year, or two half days if preferred. If further support is requested, support will be provided at the member school’s convenience with members receiving a discount of £100 per full day of support, or £50 for a half day.

The RTSA can offer a wide range of support including: bespoke packages, support for new members of staff, moderation, departmental/subject reviews, observations, coaching to address underperformance, delivery of staff meetings, whole staff INSET plus much more in order to develop strategies to improve specific areas within your school.

Our ‘Directory of Expertise’ booklet highlights the specialist practitioners we have on hand to support you in a multitude of areas. If there is something specific your school would benefit from which is not included in the directory, please feel free to contact Sally Barfoot to discuss your requirements and we will develop a bespoke package.

What can we offer? Across the Redhill Teaching School Alliance there is a wide range of tried and tested, bespoke INSET that colleagues are willing to share with other alliance schools. There are three models for delivery: the school can be given all of the materials to present themselves, a session can be developed together with one of our Lead Practitioners or SLEs, or a session can be presented solely by the person who designed it. The method of developing a session together has proved to be most successful. If you are interested in designing an INSET session for your school, or using one an existing session, or are able to offer any INSET to add to our existing list, please contact the Teaching School Management Team for further information.

As this is a new service we will announce Bespoke INSET Opportunities as they are designed and the Teaching School Management Team will keep our alliance members informed via email and social media.
