Technical Notes Consists of four main elements; 1. Body and drill attachment spindle. 2. Pilot cone - unique to the desired chamfer, provides full support during cutting and ensures concentric chamfer. 3. Blades - 1 x HSS blade at 14° cutting angle supplied. 4. Blade adjustment lock nut. Tips Achieve high quality concentric chamfering quickly and easily, without risk of damage/cutting into workpiece. Recommended cutting speed; 10 to 20 m/min. For hand drill chamfering tool we recommend a cutting speed of 3 - 40 rpm. Available with attachment spindles to suit most pillar drills, CNCs or hand drills. Chamfer angle quoted is "inclusive angle". Important Notes To extend life of blade and pilot cone we recommend lubrication with cutting fluid or soluble oil. On initial set-up make minor height adjustment of pilot cone via blade adjustment lock nut, to ensure best possible positioning. Referral For replacement or alternative blades to suit different material types, see part no. 91002. Also available in 82° and 120° inclusive chamfer angle models, subject to minimum qty.

Construction

• Concentric chamfers. 60° and 90° 60°, 82°, 90° Chamfering tools consist and 120° of three main elements. • Excellent surface finish. Attachment spindle, pilot cone, • Reduces risk of cutting into the work piece. cutting blade. • Controlled torque. A variety of spindle attachments are available from CM1, CM2 and CM3.

Our chamfer tools act in a similar fashion to a ’s .

1 When the chamfer tool’s spindle 2 Adjusting the output of the blade 3 Concentric chamfer achieved. is lowered, it’s pilot cone firstly controls the thickness of the centres the workpiece then chip count NOT the value or retracts to allow the blade to angle of the chamfer e.g. with come into contact with the a blade output of 0,4mm the material and start cutting of the chamfering tool requires 10 chamfer. revolutions to cut 1mm of the chamfer.

Recommended We recommend a cutting speed of between 10 and 20m/min. Hence typical value for chamfers of varying cutting speed diameter are as follows. Typical rpm for varying Diameter RPM range chamfer diameters, when using cutting speed of 10Ø mm 320 to 640 rpm between 10 and 20 m/min. 15Ø mm 210 to 420 rpm 20Ø mm 160 to 320 rpm 30Ø mm 110 to 220 rpm 40Ø mm 80 to 160 rpm 50Ø mm 55 to 110 rpm We do however recommend you use the following formula to check the most suitable rpm used. Rpm = (cutting speed x 1000) / (diameter x 3.14)

Blade cutting angle 0° 14° 20° 25° Brass, bronze, Steel, Soft steel, copper, Aluminium, Suitable for material cast iron, special bronze, AU 4G, plastic, soft iron, stainless steel perspex stainless steel sheet metal

Important Note: We recommend chamfering tool is lubricated with cutting fluid or soluble oil to ensure long life of cutting blade edge, and to reduce wear of the pilot cone. We offer blades with a variety of cutting angles to best suit the material in which a chamfer is required. Typically a bald cutting angle of 14° suits most applications, please refer to table below.
