A NNIE F LORENCE 3 N OLAN , b. 13 Nov 1899 , Benevolent Asylum, Sydney ii JOHN FRANCES NOLAN, b, 30 Mar 1897, Wheeo NSW Crookwell Police Court Wednesday 21 st February 1900 Before Mr. W.S. Caswell, P.M, Bridget Agnes Nolan (spinster) sued Michael Walsh for the maintenance of his children, John Francis (aged 3 years) Annie Florence (aged 3 months). Mr. Parker appeared for the complainant and Mr. Johnson for the defendant, who was not present in court. Complainant deposed that the mother children was born 30 th March 1897 at her parents place at Wheeo, and the female child was born 13 th November 1899 at the Benevolent Asylum Sydney, she had been keeping company with the defendant for about 5 years before the birth of the first child, defendant had assisted her after the birth of the first child was born, and had told her he would not see her out of a home; he had often said he would marry her and that was why she had neglected taking action for so long, defendant never denied the parentage, he had neglected to support the children, she was unable to do so herself, and asked for an order for 5/- shillings per week for the male child and 7/6 shillings for the female; defendant was a farmer and in a position to pay, about 5months before the second child was born, defendant gave her 10/- shillings to go away to Goulburn and sent her ₤1 subsequently, she afterwards went to Sydney where the girl was born, she returned about a fortnight ago. To Mr. Johnson; Never kept company with any other man and never misbehaved herself with anyone other than the defendant, never told anyone that another that another person (name mentioned) was going to marry her, would swear Walsh was the father of her children. Annie Nolan, mother of the complainant deposed the defendant frequenting her place, keeping company with her daughter prior to the birth of each child, no other man had done so to her knowledge, spoke to defendant about the matter, and he said he was not in the position to marry, offered her, offered him money to do so he said it was not for that reason, he did not deny being the father. Robert Nolan, (brother) also gave corroborative evidence. Mr. Johnson said he would not call any evidence for the defence Children of B RIDGET N OLAN and J AMES H EWITT are: ii. AGNES M ARY 3 H EWITT , b. 1904, Wheeo NSW; d. 07 Sep 1914, Crookwell NSW 13519/1914. HEWITT, Agnes Mary Crookwell Gazette, Tues 8.9.1914 Obituary The little daughter (aged 7-1/2 years sic) of Mr. and Mrs. R Hewitt, of Wheeo, died a painful death at the Crookwell Hospital yesterday, the result of burns received at her parents’ residence on 24th ultimo. It appears that the little child got up at about 7.30 am on the day mentioned in her flannelette night dress, and lit a fire, at which she sat warming her feet. Whilst she was sitting there, the flames rushed out, set fire to her night dress, and she rushed outside. This alarmed the mother (who was then in bed), and rushing out she discovered her little daughter in flames. She at once wrapped a wet rug around her, but the child by that time had been fearfully burnt about the back and lower portions. She was driven to town by Mr. E Craig and admitted to the hospital, where she received every attention, but succumbed to her injuries as above stated. Yesterday Mr. S L Cox, JP, district coroner, held an inquest at the hospital touching cause of death, and after hearing the evidence found a verdict that death resulted from burns accidentally received Cause of Death: BURNS ACCIDENTALLY RECEIVED 13. iii. • Turbine Fact Sheet
Turbine Delivery Fact Sheet Version II - March 2020 Biala Wind Farm is a 31 turbine wind farm currently under construction 14.5km south west of Crookwell in the Southern Tablelands of NSW. It is located 6km south of Grabben Gullen on Grabben Gullen Road. Biala Wind Farm is expected to have a capacity of approximately 110MW, producing enough electricity for around 46,000 typical homes on an average day of wind. We will soon begin transporting the wind turbine components from Port Kembla near Wollongong to the wind farm site. The delivery route is approximately 233km from Port Kembla to Biala Wind Farm. There will be approximately 350 components delivered over a five to six-month period using specialist trucks. We are currently making the final arrangements with Roads and Maritime Services, the Upper Lachlan Shire Council and NSW Police who will escort the larger deliveries. We expect deliveries to commence in Mid-March 2020 with each delivery leaving Port Kembla in the early morning, scheduled to arrive in Goulburn by 5.30am. Delays to road users may be experienced between Goulburn and the wind farm whilst the components are being transported. Between 6am and 9am deliveries are scheduled to travel along the Hume Highway Southern Interchange through Goulburn, north along Crookwell-Goulburn Road and will then bypass Crookwell town centre to travel along Grange Rd, Cullen St, Kialla Rd, and Range Rd connecting to Grabben Gullen Rd before arriving at site. The timeframe is subject to change depending on final arrangements and local conditions on the day. Please check the map for more detail on the route.

Descendants of Richard Weeks by Rhonda Brownlow and Monica Jones [email protected] Generation No. 1 RICHARD 2 W EEKS (T HOMAS 1) was born Abt. 1810 in Hanley Dorset England, and died 04 Sep 1868 in Redbank Taralga NSW Rg 4108. Burial: Stonequarry Cemetery Taralga He married M ARY A NN B RADLEY 31 Jul 1833 in St. Giles Parish Dorset England. She was born 1813 in Henley Dorset England, and died 11 Apr 1876 in Bolong NSW Rg 06225. Journey to Australia Times were extremely hard in the south of England during the 1830s. Hundreds wandered the countryside looking for work and something to eat. The sheer poverty and hardships drove many thousands to gather together their belongings and emigrate to America and Australia. Because the Australian Emigration Agent in London had been offering ' free passage to New South Wales' for men and their wives under 30 years, interest in that developing new land was intense. A handout bill being circulated at that time by the Emigration Agent, stated there was 'an extensive and urgent' demand for carpenters, joiners, stonemasons and cutters, bricklayers, plasterers, blacksmiths, wheelwrights, glaziers, agricultural servants, shepherds and gardeners. Hundreds of families responded to the Bill and their moves were made that much easier following special 'Poor Laws' enacted by King William IV which ensured anyone in need could be given passage to a British Colony. Edward Macarthur son of merino sheep pioneer John Macarthur of Camden New South Wales, was visiting England around that time, recruiting suitable workers for the Macarthur farms in Australia 1.

This plan also incorporated contributions sought for water supply and sewerage works under Section 27 ol the Water Supply Authorities Act, 1987. Gontributlon plans for the Shire of Gunnlng will be continually revised, in relation to rates of contribution and items for which contributions are sought, as the Shire's growth and development progresses. The plan is based on a projected steady growth of Gunning Shire of apprcxirnately thirty five (35) new dwellings and th¡rty seven (37) new allotments per year, which in tum reflects a minimal population growth. Webster yesterday and Mr. S. L .Cox, when a verdict of accidental drowning was returned. Deceased was about 40 years of age and leaves a wife and six children in very distressed circumstances. (He was actually 48 years of age) Flood at Crookwell NSW- A Man Drowned Telegrams from Crookwell NSW report rough weather. On Saturday a thunderstorm, which was usually severe commenced about four o'clock and within two hours two inches of rain fell flooding the low- lying portions of the town. Rogers' store and several private homes were inundated.

  • A Comparison of Weather Systems in 1870 and 1956 Leading to Extreme Floods in the Murray-Darling Basin
CSIRO PUBLISHING Journal of Southern Hemisphere Earth Systems Science, 2019, 69, 84–115 https://doi.org/10.1071/ES19003 A comparison of weather systems in 1870 and 1956 leading to extreme floods in the Murray–Darling Basin Jeff Callaghan Retired. Bureau of Meteorology, Brisbane, Qld., Australia. Postal address: 3/34 Macalister Road, Tweed Heads, NSW 2486, Australia. Email: [email protected] Abstract. This research is the extension of a project studying the impact of 19th century severe weather events in Australia and their relation to similar events during the 20th and 21st century. Two floods with the worst known impacts in the Murray– Darling Basin (MDB) are studied. One of these events which occurred during 1956 is relatively well known and the Bureau of Meteorology archives contain good rainfall data covering the period. Additionally, information on the weather systems causing this rainfall can be obtained. Rainfall, flood and weather system data for this event are presented here and compared with a devastating event during 1870. Although archived Australian rainfall data is negligible during 1870 and there is no record of weather systems affecting Australia during that year, a realistic history of the floods and weather systems in the MDB during 1870 is created. This follows an extensive search through newspaper archives contained in the National Library of Australia’s web site. Examples are presented showing how the meteorological data in 19th century newspapers can be used to create weather charts. Six such events in 1870 are demonstrated and three of these had a phenomenal effect on the Murray– Darling system.
