2020 Newsletter Issue 1 Term 1 Week 2
St Michael’s Primary School Newsletter 3–5 Chapel Lane, Tel: 9865 1600 Fax: 9865 1699 Baulkham Hills Email: [email protected] Issue 1 Term 1 Week 2 Thursday 6 February 2020 From the Principal Dear Parents Welcome to St Michael’s A very warm welcome to our new school year, which promises to be a very exciting one. I hope all families enjoyed a safe and relaxing holiday. It was wonderful to see so many smiling and eager faces arrive last week, particularly our new Kindergarten students and our new children in Years 1-6. A very special welcome to all our families. Being a parent is a special job. One of the many aspects of parenthood is that you are your child’s first teacher. In joining St Michael’s school community you enter into partnership with your child’s teacher as together you share a common goal—a happy and successful school year for your child. Parents and teachers are partners in helping each child develop to their full potential. I encourage all parents to become involved in the life of the school where at all possible. Teachers welcome helpers in the classroom, sporting events and excursions. Please note at any time you enter school grounds during the day, you need to report to the school office first. You must not go directly to classrooms. A reminder that all parents who wish to assist in any capacity at the school need to have completed the online Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta child protection training and undertaking. -

00:00:00 Oliver Wang Host Hi everyone. Before we get started today, just wanted to let you know that for the next month’s worth of episodes, we have a special guest co-host sitting in for Morgan Rhodes, who is busy with some incredible music supervision projects. Both Morgan and I couldn’t be more pleased to have arts and culture writer and critic, Ernest Hardy, sitting in for Morgan. And if you recall, Ernest joined us back in 2017 for a wonderful conversation about Sade’s Love Deluxe; which you can find in your feed, in case you want to refamiliarize yourself with Ernest’s brilliance or you just want to listen to a great episode. 00:00:35 Music Music “Crown Ones” off the album Stepfather by People Under The Stairs 00:00:41 Oliver Host Hello, I’m Oliver Wang. 00:00:43 Ernest Host And I’m Ernest Hardy, sitting in for Morgan Rhodes. You’re listening Hardy to Heat Rocks. 00:00:47 Oliver Host Every episode we invite a guest to join us to talk about a heat rock. You know, an album that’s hot, hot, hot. And today, we will be taking a trip to Rydell High School to revisit the iconic soundtrack to the 1978 smash movie-musical, Grease. 00:01:02 Music Music “You’re The One That I Want” off the album Grease: The Original Soundtrack. Chill 1950s rock with a steady beat, guitar, and occasional piano. DANNY ZUKO: I got chills, they're multiplying And I'm losing control 'Cause the power you're supplying It's electrifying! [Music fades out as Oliver speaks] 00:01:20 Oliver Host I was in first grade the year that Grease came out in theaters, and I think one of the only memories I have about the entirety of first grade was when our teacher decided to put on the Grease soundtrack onto the class phonograph and play us “Grease Lightnin’”. -

White Hot Truth
PRAISE for Danielle LaPorte's White Hot Truth "Danielle LaPorte’s White Hot Truth comes straight from the messy, complicated world of authentic life experience. She is a force field of energy, wonder, humour, and love." – Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues and In The Body of the World "Danielle LaPorte is a bright light in the modern priestesshood. She keeps it spiritual, she keeps it real, she keeps it good." – Marianne Williamson, NY Times bestselling author of Tears to Triumph "Our souls are yearning for Danielle’s liberating message—that discern- ment is crucial to our true spiritual freedom. She’s as compassionate as she is fiery, and every contemporary seeker will see themselves in her hard won—and very timely—White Hot Truth." – Dr. Shefali Tsabary, NY Times bestselling author of The Awakened Family "Searing grace! When Danielle LaPorte writes, there is nowhere to hide. White Hot Truth is an incendiary device for the soul. Raw, honest, funny, wise, it’s a portal to the part of you that’s always wanted to see the light of day, but never quite knew how to find its way out. Read it. Live it. Breathe it. Be it." – Jonathan Fields, author of How to Live a Good Life "I devoured this book. The way Danielle questions our approach to self- actualization and reminds us what self-love truly looks and feels like is a revelation and a revolution. Let this book be your guide to what you already know in your bones but may have forgotten as you’ve traversed the crowded spiritual growth industry.
