Although First readings: Isaiah 35:4-7a James 2:1-17 the forecast during the week had been for rain it actually turned out to be a Gospel: Mark 7:24-end lovely clear evening and so, after eating hotdogs and toasting the obligatory Sunday 16th September—3rd Sunday of Creationtide (Green) marshmallows on the fire, we spent a long time just looking up at the stars First readings: Isaiah 50:4-9a James 3:1-12 Gospel: Mark 8:27-end which were out in full force. Along with numerous stars and constellations we spotted the Andromeda Galaxy (the most distant object visible with the Sunday 23rd September—4th Sunday of Creationtide (Green) First readings: Jeremiah 11:18-20 James 3:13-4:3, 7-8a naked eye), satellites, shooting stars and of course the children’s favourite— Gospel: Mark 9:30-37 aeroplanes! Sunday 30th September—5th Sunday of Creationtide (Green) The ancient Greeks reckoned that there were around 6,000 stars in the night First readings: Numbers 11:4-6, 10-16 James 5:13-end sky—no mean feat counting them all—but of course we now know that there Gospel: Mark 9:38-end are many many more than that. In fact there is no way of knowing how many stars there are at all because even with the best telescopes we can only see a fraction of what is out there. You can just imagine the writer of Psalm 147 lying out on a clear evening just as we did last night, gazing up at the sheer magnitude of the night sky and writing: “How good it is to sing praises to our God! He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power;” To know that God is able not only to count all the stars but also to name them tells us just how amazing our God is. As the favourite children’s song puts it: “Our God is a great big God!” “Hi, I’m Maximillian the Church Mouse and I’m hiding in three different places in this magazine—can you find me?! Church Rotas But Psalm 147 is not the only time the Psalmist reflects on the number of stars in the sky—Psalm 8 includes these words: Ightfield Moreton Say Sanctuary Guild Flower Guild “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, September September the moon and the stars that you have established; 1 No Service 2 Mrs P Atkey 8 Thelma Wynn & Nola Cooke 9 Mrs A Atkins what are human beings that you are mindful of them, 15 Sheila Savil 16 ditto mortals that you care for them?” 22 No Service 23 Mrs D Shaw 29 All decorators for Harvest please 30 ditto October October The God who created the stars and knows them by name also created each 6 Rosemary McIlwrath 7 Mrs S Boden and every one of us, cares for us and knows us by name too. • Application by Adderley Parish Council for Adderley, Moreton Say and Norton in Hales Parishes to Be Considered As a Neighbourhood Area
Committee and Date: Cabinet 12th December 2018 Application by Adderley Parish Council for Adderley, Moreton Say and Norton in Hales Parishes to be considered as a Neighbourhood Area Responsible Officer Gemma Davies, Head of Economic Growth Email: [email protected] Tel: 01743 258985 1. Summary 1.1 This report seeks approval for the application by Adderley Parish Council for the three Parish Council areas of Adderley, Moreton Say and Norton in Hales to be considered as single Neighbourhood Area for the purposes of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan. (application attached as Appendix A, proposed area map as Appendix B). Whilst the application has been made by Adderley Parish Council acting as the ‘relevant body’ for regulatory purposes, it is understood all three Parish Councils will be contributing to the Neighbourhood Plan’s preparation. 1.2 Adderley Parish Council made the application to Shropshire Council in June 2018 under the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. In line with regulations Shropshire Council consulted on the proposed area for four weeks between August and September 2018. Three responses were received to this consultation, none of which objected to the principle of identifying the proposed Neighbourhood Area. 1.3 It is Shropshire Council’s role to decide if the proposed Neighbourhood Area is an appropriate area for the purposes of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan. This consideration should take account of any views expressed through the consultation process as well as information from the three Parish Council concerned. The recommendation focusses solely on the extent of the area to be used in the preparation of the proposed Neighbourhood Plan.
