The night of Friday the 18th started off well for the SAB Comedy Show. The student activity board definitely did a good job with their choice of comedians when the line to get in stretched to the entrance doors of the SAC. Upon entering, there were a few open seats that I believe would have been filled had my favorite comedian been there, Dane Cook, but he's not the issue here. The issue is that for a free show like this I believe that every seat should have been filled. I am confused as to why it wasn't,

especially for the second comedian, D.C. Benny, -^ " who even after watching him on Comedy Central I found to be ridiculously funny. The first comedian, Pete Correale, was pretty " good; he did not curse or have sexual comments in his stand-up. Perhaps this was the reason why no one found him over the top as much as Benny. I talked to my friend after the show and she felt that sex sells, which explains why Benny was a lot funnier. Benny was safe and it showed when he lost out on the laughs. Sometimes you have to take a risk in order to be successful. Having known Benny's routine, I was glad that he didn't just stick to what he knew worked. I cannot tell you how many times I happen to see a comedian with the same old act. However, this night was anything but old and routine and gave a burst of energy to the audience that showed up and had a good time. In the future I hope to see more po- litically incorrect comedians, filled seats and my favorite comedian. Tanja Stepanovic/Statesman
