News February_Layout 1 28/01/2013 17:36 Page 1 News A ROUND-UP OF LOCAL AND NATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT NEWS New venue for Chris Evans’ summer festival Cheshire’s Oulton Park has been announced as the new venue for the northern leg of Chris Evans’ CarFest. The three-day event, together with its sister festival in the south, brings together the Radio Two DJ’s passion for fast cars, great music and fine food. So far, Alfie Boe, The Feeling, Reef, Ocean Colour Scene and Bjorn Again are confirmed for the 2013 event. Described as the ultimate family festival, last year’s CarFest raised a staggering £968,735 for BBC Children In Need. Guess Who’s coming to Brum? Legendary rock band The Who are to perform iconic double album Quadrophenia in its entirety when they visit Birmingham in the summer. Released in 1973, Quadrophenia was the band’s sec- ond rock opera (after Tommy) and went on to become one of the most influential albums in the history of rock music. The new concert version has been personally directed by Roger Daltrey. A major new £1million art collection is to open at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (BMAG) next month. Containing over sixty works by some of the world’s most highly acclaimed artists, Metropolis: Reflections On The Modern City presents visions of urban life from around the globe, and features photographs, paintings, videos and sculp- tures. All of the included works were pro- duced within the last decade, with several pieces being a response to different areas of Birmingham.
